Saturday night at Canac Stadium in Quebec City. More than 4000 fans pack a stadium built in 1939 to watch the Frontier League's Capitales take on the Trois-Rivières Aigles. Why can't we do this at Jack Couch Park in Kitchener? I'll hang up and listen.

Spent our Saturday with the incomparable Dan Lebold, head trainer and equipment manager with the Kitchener Rangers and now two-time Memorial Cup winner (he's also won World Junior Gold, but who's counting?). Today was Dan's day with the Memorial Cup and what a thrill it was to celebrate the longest Rangers season in 23 years with My Beloved. Someone had to keep our house running while I was away! Might as well be my biggest cheerleader...

If you ever need a reminder that Waterloo Region is, indeed, a Force for Good, just think of what we do for cystic fibrosis research. Thanks to you, we are another big step closer to a cure. Thank you so much for believing in our campaign.

Unpopular opinion?

We have to decide if we want to be a vibrant community or one where we just go home, lock the door, and draw the blinds. In my opinion, we should absolutely welcome and encourage any opportunity that allows us to celebrate together as a community and not bow to the demands of a few folks who don't like the "noise." Even if the Gaslight District held an event every weekend, that's 52 out of 365 days in the year, or 14%. In other words, you still get your precious peace and quiet on 86% of the days. Come on with your comin' on. I vote for a vibrant community every day. Party on.

Remember my butter tart ban? First, there were no butter tarts until the 50/50 jackpot reached a certain amount. Then, in honour of their 65 years in business, the Heffners offered a $6500 donation if I could avoid butter tarts for 30 days. Today, Heffner Toyota made good on their donation ... even though I may have eaten some feelings recently and failed to make it through all 30 days without a butter tart. And I got some homemade butter tarts to boot! It helps to have good friends in the fight against cystic fibrosis!

It's the perfect day for a ball hockey tournament! And it's for the perfect reason. The annual Scotland's Yard tournament is underway at The Boardwalk as pros play with fundraisers, all in support of kids care at Waterloo Region Health Network. It was great to see so many of you doing awesome things, and I'm not gonna lie ... it was nice having a microphone back in my hand. 😉 Thanks for letting me MC your event, WRHN! I don't know about you, but I never miss Warren Warren Bechtold's annual barbecue for childhood cancer research. The guy is a legend. I'll be heading over around 1:00, which somehow seems like a fitting time to go. Hope to see you there!
