Hi friends 👋🏻 I’ve got some new followers recently and thought it was a good time to re-introduce myself and share a bit more about Blab/me.

I started Blab Media in 2010 with the hopes of helping businesses navigate the world of social media more efficiently. What began as a two-person business, transitioned into a solo-preneur venture in 2015, and has remained that way ever since.⁣⁣

I've worked with businesses of all sizes, across many different industries⁣⁣.

I've travelled around Canada to provide services (Vancouver, Alberta, Montreal, Toronto)⁣⁣ and I've met so many incredible business owners along the way!⁣⁣

I once had a job that was entirely focused on dogs and I got to meet some Instafamous pups in person⁣⁣.

I love working from home and not having to operate within standard office limitations because it allows me to fuel my passion for travel.

I really enjoying cooking and would definitely describe myself as a foodie, so I love working with clients in the food and beverage industry. I’ve been known to joke that I accept payment in the form of good food! 🤣

While live reporting for a client at a trade show in Vancouver, I met Chef Michael Smith⁣⁣!

Learning about new industries and absorbing information I didn't know before is one of my favourite parts of working with a diverse set of clients. Whether it's wind power, housing, GMOs, cosmetics or mortgages, there's no topic/industry I can't tackle head on.⁣⁣

Spent time with a wonderful group of woman founders last night discussing some tough topics and offering support at a WEtech Alliance's Mastermind & Mingle event.

Running a business isn't all fun and games, it's usually the opposite! Lots of self doubt, weird hours, overwhelming work, isolation and stress, so it was nice to talk about the real stuff, and not just the fluff, with a group of women who really get it.

Last week I had the pleasure of presenting a breakout session at the AI Summit (AI for Small Businesses & Not-For-Profits).

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to present and teach. It’s something I’ve been doing for years. Whether it’s around a small board room table or in a room with hundreds of people, it’s my happy place.

After my session, many attendees came up to speak with me and to let me know how helpful my content was and how much they enjoyed my presentation. It’s such a privilege to help others learn and grow, so hearing that my efforts were successful, and that attendees felt seen and engaged, truly meant the world to me.

The AI Summit is this Thursday and I’m finding myself immersed in all things AI as I prepare for my presentation. While I was looking into AI adoption in Canada, I came across this stat and I thought it was too interesting not to share.

Initially as part of this BDC study, only 39% of the surveyed entrepreneurs believed they were using AI. However, when they were presented with a list of AI-powered tools, this number jumped to 66%! This means that many of them were completely unaware of the AI capabilities embedded in the tools they’re already using. 🤔

🔹Real Talk🔹 The state of the world feels heavy on my shoulders sometimes, and rightfully so. We’ve been watching a live streamed genocide for years, the planet is in a state of troubling disrepair, fascism is on the rise, and horrifyingly, the list goes on and on.

In January I sought out an opportunity that would help me make a small difference in my own neighbourhood. It helped me focus on making a positive impact on a micro scale, which in turn helped me process my feelings and route my grief into meaningful action.

For the past 8 months I’ve been volunteering at Good Hood Community Kitchen a few times each month. I help take orders, wash dishes, clear tables and pack food. I’ve met so many lovely people and have seen first hand what building community really means.

So this is me sending out a message to anyone who needs to read it; if you’re feeling down, helpless or disconnected, get out in the community and serve others. It will change your life AND theirs for the better.

You have so much love and light to give the world, even in times of darkness, and I hope you never ever take that for granted. 💙
