Welcome to the Dark invites you to dim the lights and surrender to the shadows each week as host Barry Bowman brings classic tales of terror to life through the lost art of radio storytelling. From Edgar Allan Poe’s masterworks of murder and madness to Shirley Jackson’s unsettling exposés of everyday evil, from spine-tingling suspense dramas to the eerie folklore that haunts our collective nightmares, this is your weekly journey into the darkest corners of the written word. Each episode recreates the golden age of audio drama, where atmosphere is everything, imagination runs wild, and the most terrifying horrors are the ones you conjure in your own mind. So gather close, turn down the lights, and remember: in the dark, there is no escape. Join us... If you dare. Sleep well, if you can.

Today at 10am PST:The Lead Masks’ Mystery!

Two men climb a Brazilian hillside in 1996, carrying lead masks, a cryptic note, and a mission no one has ever fully explained. Days later, they’re found dead. No injuries, no cause of death, just mystery. Who were they waiting for? What signal never came? And why does the event continue to radiate so much unease? Psychic D’Arcy joins Nicola investigating one of Brazil’s strangest unsolved cases, and astounds, by suggesting the men wore masks before Nicola even mentioned them! Goosebumps guaranteed. Seeing Dead People airs on www.RadioSidney.ca at 10am PST. Repeats next Sat at 8pm and Sun at 10am. Also available as podcast on RadioSidney.

Radio Sidney

Radio Sidney was created to give voice to the local community. Our purpose is to provide a variety of programming including public service announcements, community events, arts and music programming. We will also deliver live talk radio to bring our audience up to speed on the latest news and happenings from the Saanich Peninsula. We have a strong relationship with the Aboriginal communities who will be part of our regular programming. Let’s not forget sporting events, so stay tuned for live remote broadcasts from your favourite team. Our mandate also includes the provision of training and mentorship for youth in the art and science of broadcasting. We aim to give voice to the local arts community. But most of all we will give a voice those in the community who may be underrepresented in public discourse.

Give us a shout if you want to volunteer to host or produce a show.
