This week host Nicola Furlong chats with Tyson King, president of VIK9 Assisted Human Service Society. VIK9 trains and supports service dogs and their handlers. Tyson King discovered service dogs after seeking support to cope with the post-traumatic stress disorder he experienced, following his service with the Canadian Navy. In fact, a service dog changed Tyson’s career and saved his life, more than once. (P1/2)

One bullet. Two boys. A dare that can’t be taken back. This week on Welcome to the Dark, we present “The Game”—Antony Ellis’s white-knuckle 1953 radio thriller about a lazy summer afternoon that turns deadly when boredom, whiskey, and wounded pride lead two friends to play Russian roulette. No monsters. No villains. Just the click of a cylinder and the question: who blinks first? Link in bio. Sleep well—if you can. Catch the action Thursdays and Saturday at 9 or anytime on our podcast page radiosidney.ca

It has no eyes, but it sees you. It cannot speak, but it draws you closer and after it feeds, it becomes two. This week Welcome to the Dark presents AFTER THEY FEED. Radio Sidney

Radio Sidney was created to give voice to the local community. Our purpose is to provide a variety of programming including public service announcements, community events, arts and music programming. We will also deliver live talk radio to bring our audience up to speed on the latest news and happenings from the Saanich Peninsula. We have a strong relationship with the Aboriginal communities who will be part of our regular programming. Let’s not forget sporting events, so stay tuned for live remote broadcasts from your favourite team. Our mandate also includes the provision of training and mentorship for youth in the art and science of broadcasting. We aim to give voice to the local arts community. But most of all we will give a voice those in the community who may be underrepresented in public discourse.

Give us a shout if you want to volunteer to host or produce a show.
