The MD website features a community calendar to help locals and visitors alike discover and share events happening across our communities.

A standout feature of this calendar is its ability to accept public event submissions. In the tech world this is referred to as “user-generated content,” or UGC for short.

If your event is local—either hosted within one of the communities of Lesser Slave River or supporting a regional initiative of public interest—and meets our criteria for posting, you can promote it for free via the community calendar.

To add your event, visit mdlsr.ca/calendar and click the “Submit an Event” button to get started. Use the simple online form to create your local event posting. Once you click “Submit,” site administrators will review it for compliance with our submission guidelines. We want to ensure the community calendar reflects the diverse festivities, webinars, workshops, and other local happenings in our region.

Whether you’ve got an event to promote or you’re just curious about what’s going on in the MD, check out the mdlsr.ca/calendar.

Camp Day is coming! On July 16th, when you buy a Tims coffee, 100% of proceeds are donated to Tims Camps to help empower youth. The bigger the coffee, the bigger the donation!

Today, you can help support by buying Camp Day bracelets at your local Tims restaurant. You can also donate year-round by rounding up your order or donating to change boxes in restaurant.

Notice of a Public Hearing - July 8, 2025:

The Town of Slave Lake warmly invites you to the Public Hearing on the new Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and Land Use Bylaw (LUB):

Date: July 8, 2025
Time: 6:00 pm
Location: Town Office in Council Chambers

We’re planning for what’s next - and your voice matters!

What’s this all about?

The Municipal Development Plan (MDP) is our community’s big-picture vision for the future - how we grow, where we build, how we protect green spaces, support local businesses, and create vibrant, livable neighbourhoods.

The Land Use Bylaw (LUB) is the tool that helps put that vision into action – it outlines what can be built where, from housing to parks to shops.

Together, they guide how we live, work, move and play – now and for years to come.

Come learn about the proposed changes.

Share your ideas and feedback.

Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, this is your chance to be part of something big.

For more information or to review the drafts, please visit www.engageslavelake.ca or contact the Planning Department at 780-849-8000.
