We’re excited to see Marie Clements featured in Variety talking about the women at the heart of How We Stand.

“These are modern Indigenous young women who want to grab their futures. They are looking at the world and having a point of view that may or may not land, but are learning who they want to become.”

While How We Stand is set in the past, Marie speaks about how present and future realities shaped the making of the film, and the need for stories that remind us that change is still possible.

“Things can feel downtrodden but, you know, there are cool women out there who are still working for change, and that is not going to change.”

This year's Toronto International Film Festival shines a spotlight on powerful Indigenous stories with films like In the Heart of the South, How We Stand, and Smudge the Blades.

These three films represent just a glimpse of the incredible Indigenous voices being celebrated at TIFF. From emerging filmmakers to award-winning directors, Indigenous creators continue to redefine cinema through stories of identity, resilience, culture, and community.

And while we've highlighted three, there are many more Indigenous films, creators, actors, and storytellers featured throughout this year's festival. We encourage everyone to explore the full lineup and support Indigenous cinema.

HOW WE STAND will be having its WORLD PREMIERE this year at as part of the CENTERPIECE program!

HOW WE STAND, directed by Marie Clements, is a contemporary drama that converges the dreams, blood, and tears of three separated sisters against the political, cultural, and social currents of 1970s Los Angeles.

Starring Amber Midthunder, Alyssa Wapanatâhk and Isabel DeRoy-Olson, and Cara Jade-Meyers.

A new film by Marie Clements is coming soon!!!

Congratulations to Marie Clements and the entire team behind How We Stand on the world premiere at TIFF 2026.

An adaptation of Marie's play, Tombs of the Vanishing Indian, the film stars: Amber Midthunder, Alyssa Wapanatâhk, Isabel DeRoy-Olson, Darren Mann, Gary Farmer, Gil Bellows, Mary Walsh, Tonantzin Carmelo with Eric Johnson, and Cara Jade Myers.

As always, we are super proud and honoured to support Marie as producers.

Ideal for an edit suite, private office to write or a rent the entire space for a small production. Access to kitchen, boardroom, and shared casual workspace/meeting areas.

Both these spaces are ideal for independent or MOW productions.

Parking is not included but there is a $6 per day lot close by.
Colour photocopies not included.

Everyone at Screen Siren is saddened to hear of the passing of composer and musician, Cris Derkson. Cris composed all of the amazing music on our three-part series British Columbia: An Untold History for Knowledge Network. The series was a collaboration with director Kevin Eastwood and producer Leena Minifie. Sending condolences to family and friends. Cris, what a talent, leaving us too soon.
