Ontario's Special Investigation Unit has released more details regarding Tuesday's incident at Anicinabe Park in the following press release.

Mississauga, ON (26 June, 2024) ---
The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 57-year-old man in Kenora yesterday afternoon.

Preliminary information suggests the following:
At approximately 12:40 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police officers located a man with knives at Anicinabe Park.
The man set fire to a building. Firefighters responded to extinguish the blaze.
One officer shot the man. The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case. The post-mortem is scheduled for Saturday.

One subject official and seven witness officials have been designated at this time.
