Had a long layover in Toronto so we checked out the The Artifact Exhibition. Found it quite interesting with lots of info on the ship, its sinking and the people on board. A large number of items retrieved from the ocean floor along with recreations of staterooms, the main staircase and more. Took about an hour and a half to go thru. There is also a virtual reality segment but we chose not to do that.

Despite getting on the wrong train and nearly ending up in Milan, we made it to Venice. Beautiful and busy.

In Bologna we saw the Garisenda Tower today. It has a lean of four degrees, slightly more than the leaning tower of Pisa. It's the shorter of two towers, with a height of 157 feet. They are working to save it from falling. Built in the 1200's. You can see the lean in the photo showing its taller twin alongside.

Now that's how you build a road. Spent some time on part of the Appian Way just outside of Rome today. It's part of a road network built by the Romans with construction beginning 2,337 years ago. The black basalt rocks have stood the test of time however you can see some of the worn ruts from cart wheels. Those Romans knew how to get things done.
