I was saddened to see the passing of Major Judy Regamey with the Salvation Army in Saskatoon. We worked with Judy over the years on our Adopt a Family program. My condolences to her family and all who knew and worked with her. Services will be held next Tuesday, Dec. 30th.

It is with heavy hearts that we write to inform you of the passing of Major Judy Regamey yesterday evening. We rejoice in her Promotion to Glory as she is now safely in the arms of Jesus. We give thanks to God for her life and witness. We are surrounding Major Henri, Andrew, Matthew, Nathan and their families with our love and prayers at this difficult time.

A funeral will be held at The Temple on Tuesday, December 30th at 11am.

Broadview RCMP is investigating the sudden death of a pre-teen boy after his body was found outside on the Ochapowace First Nation the evening of December 20.

The boy left a residence on the Ochapowace First Nation on foot around 5:00 p.m., destined for another residence in the community. He was located deceased by someone passing by the area just before 8 p.m. several hundred metres from the original residence.

Following initial investigation and consultation with RCMP Major Crimes, at this time the boy’s sudden death is not considered suspicious. An autopsy by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service must be conducted to confirm the boy’s cause of death, according to RCMP.

RCMP says posts purporting to report the cause of death are premature. “We understand there is conversation happening locally and at this time the RCMP cannot confirm whether or not the boy’s death was the result of an animal mauling, if weather or another element was a factor,” the RCMP said.

“This was a horrific incident that has deeply shaken our community,” said Chief Shelley Bear of Ochapowace First Nation. “This tragedy is especially devastating at this time of year as families are preparing to come together to celebrate Christmas and new year. We hold the family, their loved ones, and all those who came up upon this tragic scene in our prayers.”

The RCMP is asking the public to refrain from any vigilante action towards animals. Pending autopsy results, the appropriate authorities will determine next steps, if any, to mitigate any concerns.

The RCMP is not providing any other identifying details about the boy at this time. “The RCMP offers our deepest condolences to the boy’s family and the community at large during this very difficult time,” say the RCMP.

What great childhood memories this brings back....

In 1955, a misprinted Sears ad connected kids to a military command.

Instead of reaching Santa, children called the Continental Air Defense Command, or CONAD, the predecessor of NORAD. What happened next turned a simple mistake into a beloved holiday tradition.

CONAD staff could have ignored the calls, but they chose a different path. They began “tracking” Santa’s journey across the globe, giving children magical updates as if the jolly man himself was flying in real time. This unexpected blend of military precision and holiday cheer captured hearts across America, blending modern culture with timeless festive heritage.

Today, NORAD continues the tradition, using satellites, radar, and social media to let millions of children follow Santa each Christmas Eve. What started as a simple misprint has become a symbol of innovation, kindness, and holiday wonder. It reminds us that history is often shaped by small, unexpected moments that grow into lasting traditions.

Sometimes the most magical discoveries happen by accident.
