👉 Meta announces updates to detailed targeting for advertisers.

🎯 “Starting January 15, 2024, we’re removing or consolidating some detailed targeting options that relate to topics people may perceive as sensitive. Existing ad sets with impacted targeting options will continue to run until March 18 2024, but will require you to update your targeting selections. After this date, we will stop delivering ads to the discontinued detailed targeting options, and impacted ad sets may be paused.”

👉 Meta and Microsoft have both signed onto the Partnership on AI (PAI) Responsible Practices for Synthetic Media initiative, which aims to establish industry agreement on responsible practices in the development, creation, and sharing of media created via generative AI.

📌 PAI says that the group will also work to clarify their guidance on responsible synthetic media disclosure, while also addressing the technical, legal, and social implications of recommendations around transparency.

🤔 It will be interesting to see how AI gets regulated and what the rules will ultimately be for content creators.

👉 Users will now be able to access features that were previously only available to certain Pin formats or users with a business account, including links, post-publish editing, and flexible aspect ratios.

👉 All content creators will also be able to include expressive features like music, text overlay, and stickers to their Pins. To create a video or image Pin, users can simply “create a Pin”

👉 Links on all Pins as well as the ability to edit Pin components after publishing including title, details, and links.

📌Meta prepares for another round of lay-offs this week as part of its focus on improving operational efficiency. Cracks are beginning to appear within its operational framework, with problems arising in ad ops, and content moderation, and there will be more over time.

👉 Ad buyers are reporting increasing and ongoing errors with Meta’s ad systems, following a major Facebook Ads error last month that caused significant campaign overspending.
