☀️ It’s opening night for “Count Ory”, an English adaptation of Rossini’s comic opera being shared by . Music director Shannon Hiebert () and star joined us to preview the show, which is being put on at .

☀️ Our friends at are celebrating the life of a father and a founder. Dick Toews passed away earlier this month at the age of 85, and his son (and current owner) Andrew joined us to remember his dad and to tell us about his connection to classical music.

☀️ .art’s latest exhibit at takes found items from her rural property outside Otterburne and repurposes them to speak to a wide variety of issues from family brushes with breast cancer to MMIWG. We joined them at the gallery to hear about her latest exhibit called “Refuse(d)”.

🌅 MORNING LIGHT - AUGUST 18, 2025 🌅

☀️ Celebrated international violinist Martin Beaver returns to his home community this week for a A Lemay Forest Celebration, a concert that honours the work done earlier this year to eventually secure the land’s status as a provincial park. Martin was joined by Ken MacDonald of Manitoba Mobile Music and ceremonial fire keeper Diane Bousquet who told us more about the work to preserve the forest and what to expect from the celebration.

☀️The in downtown Winnipeg is featuring several walking tours that cast the historic house and the downtown more broadly in different lights. Executive director Sarah Watkins joined us to walk us through (pun intended) the different tours, which range from historical to natural!

A big show for sharing stories from rural art galleries!

☀️ Hollande Bezan () is sharing the sights and stories of her family’s property near Inglis in her new exhibit, “Return to the Farm”, on display at the in Altona. She told us more about her memories at the farm and the desire to preserve memories in art.

☀️ Clyde Finlay’s art spans a wide variety of mediums and genres - oil to acrylic, landscapes to abstract. The full scale of his works are currently on display at the in Carman. He joined us to talk about his vast number of inspirations and how he’s passing down his techniques in classes.
