Here’s a photo dump from last weekend’s 71st Annual John Horgan Discovery Honda Men’s Cowichan Open Tournament ⛳️

This was my 13th year covering this awesome event, and 2025 was really spicy! 🌶️ We had one of the most thrilling finishes ever. There was a 3-way tie for first place, leading to an exciting playoff between Jeff Hetherington, Blair Sturrock, and Scott Kral 🔥

After two holes, we had our CHAMPION! Jeff secured the win with sinking an eagle putt 🦅 He’s from Cowichan Golf Club and shot 66 in the first round and 74 in the second, giving him a total score of 140. Congrats, Jeff! 🎉

This year was so much fun with great vibes all around. I can’t wait to come back next year! 📸

Meet PGA of Canada’s Fraser Mulholland who hails from Aberdeen, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and has loved golf since he was very young.

As the CEO of the Vancouver Golf Tour (VGT), Fraser plays a key role in shaping the future of golf in the region. He cares deeply about the game and is dedicated to nurturing young talent in British Columbia. He leads a team of professionals and volunteers who share his vision.

The main aim of VGT is “Preparing Tomorrow’s Champions.” Fraser takes great pride in the success of its alumni, especially notable golfers like Adam Hadwin, Nick Taylor, and Adam Svensson, who have achieved significant success on the PGA Tour.

Fraser has been a member of PGA Canada since 1992 and has over 30 years of experience in golf teaching, tournaments, and operations. He has won 34 professional tournaments, including the 2004 PGA of BC Championship.

Belinda Lin’s journey in golf is a compelling narrative of passion, perseverance, and triumph. Originally hailing from Taiwan, Belinda embarked on her life-changing adventure at the tender age of 12 when she moved to Canada. It was here that she discovered the game that would become her lifelong pursuit. By 15, she was competing, driven by an insatiable desire to excel.

Belinda’s amateur career has been nothing short of remarkable. Her victory at the 2019 BCGA Zone 3/4 Am Championship showcased not only her skill but also her determination to rise through the ranks of competitive golf. This win, along with her triumph at the 2018 MJT PGA of BC Odlum Brown Classic, solidified her reputation as a prodigious talent in the golfing community.

Her time playing for the Simon Fraser University golf team provided her with invaluable experience and further honed her skills, creating a bridge between her amateur success and professional aspirations. With every swing and putt, Belinda embodies the spirit of a true athlete — one who embraces challenges and learns from them.

Jaya Rampuri achieved a big milestone by winning her first professional title at the Seniors’ & Women’s Championships, which took place at Cordova Bay Golf Course in Victoria on Monday and Tuesday.

This exciting event marked not only her first win as a professional golfer but also her debut in a PGA of BC tournament. In the first round, Rampuri scored 72 (+1), giving her a slim one-stroke lead. She then finished strong in the second round with a score of 70, bringing her total to 142.

Rampuri’s victory is a proud moment for her and an inspiring achievement in women’s golf.

Morgan wins third Career Seniors’ Title at the 2025 PGA of BC Seniors’ Championships, held Monday and Tuesday at Cordova Bay Golf Course in Victoria.

Representing Richmond Country Club, Morgan shot a strong Round One score of 69 (-2) and followed it with a 70 in Round Two, finishing with a total of 139. Congratulations, Douglas! 🏆🎉

Recently caught up with Ashlee Kastelen, a Class A Golf Professional from Cedar Ridge Golf Course in Mission, BC. She participated in the 2025 PGA of BC Women’s Championship hosted by Cordova Bay Golf Course this week. Ashlee performed exceptionally well, placing 7th overall in the women’s division. She shot a steady score of 77 each day, finishing with a total gross score of 154.

Meet Zach Ryujin, a 24-year-old assistant professional at Gorge Vale Golf Club and a proud member of the PGA of Canada. Zach recently turned professional in September after spending five years playing for the Vikes golf team.

At Gorge Vale, he is a teacher for the junior program, helping young golfers develop their skills and love for the game. Zach also works with golfers of all levels, guiding them to improve and enjoy their golfing experience. His passion for growing the game shines through in everything he does!
