What a privilege and honor to get to take part yesterday in the celebration and tribute to our wonderful friend Kevin Doyle.
Big Thank You to Mike Elliott and everyone who had a hand in putting it together and making it happen, and of course we all know that Kevin, a man who loved bringing people together, had a huge hand in it himself. Thank You to everyone who came out, everyone who played, everyone who made it a tribute truly befitting such a giant presence. It's truly a Blessing to have been able to take part in the day.
As we were saying yesterday....there are a lot of pieces that have to come together to make live music happen. There's the musicians, there's the folks running the sound, there's the great folks who come and listen....all of these are big time components to making it all happen....
Another essential part to all of this, are the ones who facilitate any of it happening by making a place available for it to all come together. They are the ones who facilitate, who open the door, they are the gate keepers of magic....the ones who "build it and they will come" like Field of Dreams. Kevin is one of these, and he made possible many dreams by doing what he did. He is the captain of the Boathouse, who navigated many ships to port, and he did it because he cared, he truly cared, and as evidenced yesterday by all who came to pay this great man tribute....he touched a lot of people. We are so lucky to be counted among those. Forever grateful friend and You are forever felt. Forever with us 'til we meet again.
Can only imagine what kind of venue you've got going now in the Great Beyond, I do imagine you've got one going though, that you're bringing folks together there as you always did here....it's just in some people, it's just who they are, Thank God for them and thank God for You, for You are without doubt one of those, and ever to be.
