Binibining Heneral Santos City 2023 and an Official candidate for this yearโs Hiyas ng Pilipinas Tara Limjap is defying bullies after becoming a Pageant Queen. Tara shares her story on how she struggle because of her skin color.
โI would like to share this story with everyone.
โI grew up sa community na walay adlaw na dili ko mabully. There was a time na while gaperform ko sa stage, naay nag syagit na โiring na itomโ and gikataw an ko sa mga tao. There was also a time when I was in elementary na nawad an kog gana magskwela kay every time magstart ang exercise during flag raising ceremony, may ginachant ang mga students na โTarah Tarah lalagomโ kay magka rhyme sila sa song.
โThose are just some of the reasons why I wasn't able to build up my confidence. I could still remember the names of those individuals who caused my trauma. That's why, until now, it is still hard for me to reconnect with those people who made my childhood something that I am trying to forget. Some might say that I should be thanking those people who treated me that way because it made me push myself to love and embrace my beauty, but NO. I will never be thankful for that because I know that what they did was wrong, and NOBODY deserves to be treated that way. Instead, I want to thank those people who kept reminding me to embrace and accept my uniqueness. Those people who gave me the love that I needed for me to love myself, too.
โTo those individuals na mawad an na ug kumpyansa sa sarili because of how vicious our world is, know that there's always someone who hopes for you. Someone who believes in you and you can consider me as that someone. Always remind yourself that you are beautifulโ no matter who you are, no matter where you are, and no matter what you look like.
โMay this post be a reminder to everyone to always show kindness because we have no idea what other people are experiencing.
