Nursing did begin as a profession largely filled by women, and for many, the reward of helping others was considered part of the compensation. But compassion and purpose should never be used to justify inadequate pay, unsafe staffing, or poor working conditions.
Most nurses don’t enter this profession expecting praise. We do it because we care. However, caring doesn’t pay the bills or protect us from burnout, violence, or chronic understaffing.
That’s why we’re on strike—not because we’ve stopped caring, but because we want a healthcare system where nurses can continue providing safe, quality care without sacrificing their own well-being. At the end of the day, advocating for nurses is also advocating for our patients.

People often think strength is found in the loudest voice. Sometimes, it’s found in those who keep showing up—for their patients, their colleagues, and the future of healthcare.

Today, we stood together with smiles, hope, and purpose. Not because it’s easy, but because advocating for safe care is part of caring.

The strongest people I know don’t just care at the bedside. They care enough to stand up when it matters.

Quiet strength is still strength.

What can we learn from this moment?

Every accomplishment we admire started with someone willing to be a beginner.

Before confidence came uncertainty.
Before success came practice.
Before victory came countless moments of doubt.

You don’t have to be ready.
You don’t have to be perfect.

You just have to be willing to begin.

That’s where every journey starts. 🌿
