Meet our Interns!✨
Alexa Blyan is a Nêhiyaw/Métis film director, writer, and producer from Lloydminster, SK, and a proud member of Sucker Creek First Nation. Her storytelling focuses on empowerment, intergenerational healing, and cultural reclamation — bringing over six years of media experience to her work.
Marking her first year as Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week’s Media Intern, Alexa works closely with General Manager Caroline Phelps, bringing her creativity and passion for storytelling to the VIFW team.
Alexa began in media by producing a CBC-launched web series encouraging people to reclaim their stories. She later featured in a TELUS Originals series with her episode screening in festivals & flights across Canada. Through the Empowered Filmmaker Program, Alexa co-directed a short film with her younger brother, and is now directing a TELUS Storyhive documentary series.🎬
