My husband and I have RCC (random curry cravings). 🤔

For us, nothing satisfies that desire for comfort food more than a humble Japanese pork katsu (deep fried meat cutlet breaded in breadcrumbs) curry on rice.

We came across Namba Curry on Kingsay completely by chance on our way to the Joyce skytrain station and we were instantly in love. 🧡

We knew this place was a gem when we walked in and were greeted by the indistinguishable scent of curry spice with a hint of sweetness.

Similarly to Japanese curry restaurants we’ve visited in Japan, each curry dish is customizable by your choice of protein, amount of rice up to 400 grams, and spice level up to 3 chilli peppers for an extra cost.

We ordered the Pork Katsu Curry ($16.50) and Beef Tendon Curry ($18). You know a place is good when every seat is taken by 6pm on a Sunday evening.

The end of summer often feels bitter sweet, but getting to go to The Fair PNE / Playland definitely helps. ☀️

Watching the SuperDogs is always a highlight for me. Not to mention checking out all the cute animals and getting my favourite funnel cake.

$35 for a single smoked turkey leg is a little out of this world though not gonna lie…..🤔

What is your end of the summer tradition?

Look no further if you are deciding where to go for your next brunch date with your besties. Loreto Brunch & Dinner was absolutely packed on a Sunday afternoon.

I loved the casual dining vibes, cute play area for kids you don’t really see in restaurants anymore, and the absolutely beast of a coffee mug with love and care put into every dish. Shout out to Grace for the cutest teddy bear latte art! 🧸☕️🧡

📍Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. 🇵🇷

Founded in 1521, San Juan is one of the oldest European settled cities in the Americas, and you can feel that history in every cobblestone street.

Loved the pastel facades and iron balconies that date back to Spanish colonial rule, when the city was a key port guarding the Caribbean. 🧡💚🩵💛

Above the famous La Perla neighborhood, that mural covered basketball court sits right on the water, once a rough edge of town, now an iconic photo stop.

Picture perfect town with light bouncing off centuries old walls. San Juan, te quiero. ✨

Hong Kong cafes are having a moment in Lower Mainland food courts, and One Cafe vs Cha Don is the rivalry driving it.

Good food at a fair price will always win Vancouver over. I had to see what the fuss was about, so I hit up the new One Cafe at Lansdowne Centre right at mall opening, 10am sharp. The wait clocked in at 30 minutes, but food landed at my table almost instantly after ordering.

Now I get the hype. The scrambled eggs were silky and creamy, perfect with thick buttered toast, crusts off. The spiced beef instant noodles brought a rich, aromatic broth, though the beef itself ran a touch dry.

The iced milk tea was the star of the show here. Creamy evaporated milk mixed with strong brewed tea and just the right amount of sweetness.
Verdict: a reliable, affordable all day HK breakfast spot worth the line.

Presented By RBC | A Vancouver Chinatown Foundation Initiative pulled a crowd of 20,000 this weekend with live music that carried down Columbia Street.

The festival’s street food showdown between local kitchens. First stop was a BBQ pork bubble waffle, crisp outside, soft inside, with a smoky char on the pork. I washed it down with a mango jasmine bubble tea, floral, just sweet enough, tapioca pearls with the perfect chewy-ness.

Now in its sixth year, this free two day festival is Chinatown’s biggest party of the summer. ☀️🏮
