Thank you, Summer 2025!

Always grateful to live here in the Okanagan Valley. We had some amazing highlights this August at Phreeagent Creative, and we’re riding that energy straight into fall.

We’re currently in pre-production on new projects and in the editing stages after filming some picture-perfect sunny days in the Okanagan for our clients. One highlight was working on the excellent online career program Working on Purpose created by Steve Miller. Definitely check out his work—fantastic guy: workingonpurpose.ca

We’re also thrilled to be creating a beautiful video for Zelaney Farms as they celebrate their 40th anniversary of growing fresh food for our community. Their story is rich with history and deep family roots tied to this valley. Can’t wait to share it! In the meantime, visit their farm: zelaneyfarms.com

And yes—we got social too! We attended the Caetani CentreBack to Rome fundraiser and immersed ourselves in stunning art. Music was also in high rotation throughout the region this summer. We kicked things off with Canadian icons Odds at the Vernon Towne Theatre, and within a single day our ears were treated to everything from the Secret Spotlight series at the Vernon SpeakEasy to Lilyfest’s music-and-skate mashup, catching acts from October Poppy to akaDaisyband. Whew!

Our team is energized and inspired, full of passion and joy as we work alongside amazing clients. Storytelling is at the core of who we are, and we’re grateful for every opportunity to share the voices, history, and creativity that make this community shine. Are you ready to

Splash: Return to Rome – A Night to Remember at the Caetani Centre

Last week we had the joy of attending Splash: Return to Rome at the Caetani Centre — an unforgettable evening of art, community, and celebration hosted by Caetani Centre Executive Director Laisha Rosnau and the super wonderfully talented artist Judy Rose.

We began with a beautiful Italian-inspired meal by Uprooted Kitchen & Catering , enjoyed together at long tables in the gardens. After dinner, the energy shifted into a lively art auction led by Paul & Renée Bielby of Benefit Auctions. Adding to the atmosphere, artist Jordan Perkins Art painted live throughout the evening, unveiling a striking owl painting that was auctioned at the end of the night.

Around the gardens, we discovered even more inspiration. Lekker Land Design shared their imaginative plans for the Caetani grounds, from cozy nooks to a striking moon gate that promises to make the gardens an even more inviting community space. The new Vernon Cultural Centre was also represented with a booth, connecting the dots between local arts organizations and the vibrant cultural future unfolding in our community. We were also excited to see a booth for Heidi Thompson first film, Recapitulation – A Journey, a poetic and immersive adaptation of Sveva Caetani’s visionary work, honoring a legacy shaped by silence, resilience, and creative transcendence.

Of course, the heart of the evening was Sveva. We listened to moving stories about Sveva Caetani, and even sat with guests who knew her personally — a powerful reminder of her artistic and personal legacy that continues to ripple outward.

On a personal note, it was also our wedding anniversary, made unforgettable when Judy serenaded us with a beautiful Italian song. Thank you, Judy, for such a special moment.

It was a night that truly embodied what the Caetani Centre stands for: community, creativity, and connection. We left feeling inspired and grateful to be part of this story — and deeply moved by the generosity shown throughout the evening in support of the Caetani Centre, local arts, and especially the artists who bring so much life to our community.

Thank you Laisha and the Caetani Centre

Took a break to rejuvenate, regenerate, recalibrate, recreate and rejoice.

My parents are originally from Portugal and we just got back from a long awaited, pre-Covid booked-cancelled-rebooked 5 years later- a Portuguese holiday there with the whole family. Twenty six years since my last visit to the motherland and over thirty there with my brother. Now my son and his son with us and Dad, three generations retracing our parents roots. My glass is FULL literally from family love, wine, Portuguese sardinhas, and as much of my heritage and culture that I could soak back up into my Canadian/Portuguese DNA.

Here’s a small bite size of Portugal!

Came back fired up, inspired and reconnected. Started work right away with our exciting new clients! Looking forward to these next few months of 2025 that are going to be incredible with the great projects we’ve been entrusted to produce!

What an amazing business community we have here. Thankful for the passionate families, business owners and creative entrepreneurs we get to meet.

If you’re still overthinking about producing videos for your business, need some multi media marketing advice or starting that passion project podcast just..… “Aproveita o dia!”
Let’s meet at the café 😉 and see how we can help with your story.

Some stories sneak up on you — even when they’ve been growing beside you all along.

I’ve known Jayme McKillop - RE/MAX Vernon Jayme McKillop for a few years now. We first met through music — both of us passionate artists before anything else. From there, we kept running into each other at local events, community fundraisers, and arts nights — the kind of connections that quietly deepen over time.

When Jayme became a real estate agent, another thread tied us together: long-standing family roots in real estate, on both sides. Both of our fathers have been in the business for decades — hers here in Vernon, mine out east. That shared history gave us another layer of understanding, one that only recently came full circle.

We’d chat now and then about the industry — but it wasn’t until I sat down to interview her for this video project that I realized how much I didn’t know.

We filmed in the Cambium Orchard neighbourhood — a spot with deep personal roots for her — and peeled back the layers. We got into everything: food security, affordable housing, gardening, trail running, dogs, Okanagan life, arts, and culture. And through it all, one thread ran strong: community. Her years of service. Her drive to give back. The values her mom taught her — not passed down like a legacy, but lived and practiced, still today.

I wasn’t in tears, but I’ll admit it — I got choked up editing. Teary, even. It’s not every day you get to help tell a story that feels this close to home.

These are the kinds of projects that remind me why we do what we do at Phreeagent.
They connect people and place.
They celebrate milestones — like 10 years of Jayme representing Vernon in real estate.
They shine a light on what matters — and sometimes, they show us what we didn’t realize we’d been standing beside the whole time.

In fact, after all these years of friendship, it wasn’t until filming this piece that Jayme discovered I was once a real estate agent too.

Even among friends, there’s always more to the story.
Thank you for trusting us with your story Jayme.

Watch the video, and see why this one left a mark.
This is the Phreeagent effect.

Phreeagent Turns One (And I Almost Missed It)

Turns out, our anniversary passed without me even realizing—until LinkedIn started sending me congrats messages and people began reaching out. That’s when it hit me: Phreeagent Creative Media just turned one, and at the same time, I’ve officially been in video production for 20 years.

Back in 2005, I started as a producer at Ace Film Company, and co-founded Ocean Media BC with Darko ŠikmanSikman in Vancouver. After moving to the Okanagan and working with Sproing for almost a decade, I started Phreeagent last year. Since then, I’ve had the chance to collaborate on all kinds of projects, with amazing people. And now, leading Phreeagent in Vernon, BC, I get to continue doing the kind of work I love—with the kind of clients who truly get it.

It’s been a packed and rewarding first year.

Some highlights from Year One:

Edited the documentary Horsewomandoc, produced for STORYHIVE TELUS with artist Mariel Belanger

Worked with the Fresh Outlook Foundation twice, documenting their C.A.R.E. events and climate action work by our local students

Produced brand and podcast content for clients including Cabin Resource Management UltraDeck, SASCU City of Vernon - Local Government Intimate Wellbeing Transistor.fm Feed Your Soul, Wesmont Group Lekker Land Design and many more

Collaborated with the Community Foundation North Okanagan and Purppl on a local impact video tied to the documentary screening of Uncharitable Movie

Nominated for Best New Business by the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce —a huge honour in our first year

And yes, we still managed to have fun on set—because when people feel comfortable and confident, the best stories come out naturally

If you’ve seen our short video “In My Own Words”, you’ll know what we’re all about: real stories, relaxed sets, and clients who become collaborators. That’s the Phreeagent way.

Grateful, Always

To every client, partner, and creative we’ve worked with—thank you.

To Randi Buerfeind — our drone pilot/videographer/photographer and steady force behind the scenes—couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you Keli Westgate and Ben for your love and support. And to everyone who’s messaged, shared, or supported us this past year: we see you and appreciate you.

THANK YOU! ❤️

Here’s to Year Two. More stories. More collaborations. More creative freedom.

Welcome to Cabin!

No glass ceilings, no limits—just a team that supports your growth.

Forestry, Environmental, Geospatial, Recreation, Heritage, and Wildfire!

There’s a difference between companies that talk about culture… and ones that live it. Cabin Resource Management is the real deal.🌲

When I had the chance to work with Cabin to help tell their story, I got a sneak peek behind the scenes—and what I found was exactly what you see in the video: authenticity, passion, collaboration, and a real connection to purpose. From the forest to the field to the office, the spirit of Cabin runs deep. You can feel the respect for the work, the land, and each other.

More and more companies are coming to us to craft their About Us videos—not just because they need content, but because they want their authentic story told right. Our experience, creative vision, and production efficiency mean we're being trusted with longer-format storytelling projects that go beyond surface-level. It’s not just what you do—it’s why you do it. And we love bringing that to life.

This was one of those projects that reminds you why storytelling matters—and why it’s so rewarding when you’re telling a story that’s truly real.

Big thanks to the Cabin team for trusting Phreeagent to help bring their world to life.

Feed Your Soul do it today—by checking out Sareena's podcast!

I love working on projects like this. Sareena is a natural host whose energy is absolutely contagious. Her conversations glow—full of laughter, honesty, and unexpected moments of joy. I had the pleasure of working on several episodes and honestly, I’d forget I was supposed to be working—I was just in it, soaking up every word with guests like Judy Rose, Marlene Higgins, Jason Podollan, and Robynne Ouchi. And I think you will be too.

The Feed Your Soul podcast dives into the beautifully messy journey of self-discovery, and how that journey can light the way to your best life. That soul gets hungry—so feed it! These episodes are full of soulful seconds, inspiring stories, and yes—even dancing. Sareena kept the joy flowing, even when tech gremlins popped up on my end. She’s just that kind of person: finding the positive, glowing, and always moving forward.

Find Feed Your Soul on Spotify or wherever you listen.
Watch the video versions on the Storyhive YouTube channel.

Some agencies talk a big game. We just fly over it.
We climbed a mountain and flew a drone—because that’s what it takes to get the shot (and impress our moms).

For clients who want sky-high creativity, we’re your people.

Anna,

Wow. What an incredible run. I felt the love in this community truly come out on this campaign. It’s truly remarkable what you accomplished in such a short time.

Thank you for trusting us to represent you and your message throughout the campaign. It was an inspiring experience, and I genuinely enjoyed every part of it.

More than that, I’m grateful to have witnessed you in action — speaking, listening, sharing, educating, and learning. Seeing how you brought so many of us together on this run was inspiring. As overused as the word may be, I felt like I saw your ‘authentic’ self, and I know you would have represented us with integrity, strength, and heart.

You were and still are the best choice.
There’s so much to be proud of. I know I am — just to have been a part of it.

Thank you again,
Joe
