Your bathroom mirror shouldn't be wider than the vanity underneath it.
A simple proportion check:
📏 Keep the mirror no wider than the vanity.
For a standard vanity, leave a small visual margin on each side rather than letting the mirror overhang the cabinet.
For the vertical placement, aim for about 5–10 inches between the countertop and the bottom of the mirror, depending on the faucet and wall lighting.
If you're adding sconces, place them around eye level on either side of the mirror rather than squeezing them above it.
And if your bathroom feels flat, don't underestimate the mirror + lighting combination. A better-proportioned mirror paired with proper vanity lighting can make a basic bathroom feel much more finished.
Why it works: keeping the mirror within the vanity's width creates a clean visual frame and makes the entire sink wall feel intentional.

Your Curtains May Be Making the Window Look Smaller

If your curtain rod stops right at the window frame, you're losing visual height and width.
Try this instead:
📏 Mount the rod 4–6 inches above the window frame.
If the ceiling is under 9 ft, you can also place it within 2–4 inches of the ceiling for a taller-looking treatment.
Then extend the rod 3–6 inches past the frame on each side. If you want to maximize daylight, go closer to 8–12 inches past each side.
For fullness, aim for total curtain-panel width of about 2–2.5× the window width.
And let the fabric kiss the floor—don't stop it several inches above.
Why it works: mounting higher and wider makes the window treatment feel intentional while giving the wall more vertical presence.
