🌸 Auction Win of the Week! 🌸
I couldn't resist this stunning hand-crafted faïence pottery set from Saint-Brice, near Cognac, France, created by celebrated ceramist Michèle Robin. Known for her traditional French earthenware, Michèle began her pottery career in the late 1960s and has spent decades hand-turning and decorating pieces in her workshop near Cognac. Each piece is individually crafted and hand-painted, making every set wonderfully unique.
Just look at those cheerful floral garlands, soft pink accents, and charming details! This incredible collection includes serving pieces, pitchers, goblets, egg cups, candle holders, a teapot, colander, and more. The handwritten signatures and "St-Brice Cognac" markings on the bottoms are a reminder that these weren't factory-produced, they were made by the hands of an artisan carrying on a long tradition of Charente faïence pottery.
One of my favourite things about vintage and artisan pottery is imagining the stories behind it. How did a beautiful French pottery collection travel all the way to a Canadian auction? 🇫🇷➡️🇨🇦
I'd love to know...
