Temporary foreign workers may fill labour gaps, but in reality, they often take jobs away from Canadians and send their earnings out of the country—offering little long-term benefit to Canada. Meanwhile, permanent immigrants bring money, invest in businesses and homes, and create real, lasting economic value. If Canada wants true growth, it should focus less on temporary labour and more on attracting immigrants who are here to build, not just earn and leave.

After the death of her husband, the widow was made to drink a bowl made of cannabis and datura. As she proceeded toward the cremation ground, she would sometimes laugh, sometimes cry, and sometimes want to lie down on the ground and sleep — this was her way of expressing trauma, known as sahimarna (a reaction to the practice of Sati).

She was then made to sit on the funeral pyre by pressing her under raw bamboo sticks. This was done to restrain her because there was fear that the woman being burned might not be able to endure the pain of burning. A thick layer of resin and ghee was poured on the pyre to create so much smoke that no one could see the brutality, and loud drums, cymbals, and conch shells were played so that no one could hear her screams — her cries, her pleas.

This was Sati Pratha — the ritual of burning widows alive.

A new Chinese detonation engine has been making headlines for its potential to revolutionize air travel by enabling speeds of up to 12,000 mph (Mach 16) — a pace that could reduce intercontinental flights from hours to minutes.

🔥 What is a Detonation Engine?
Unlike traditional jet engines or even scramjets, detonation engines use supersonic combustion (specifically detonation waves) rather than slower deflagration (normal burning). This provides:

Much higher efficiency due to more complete fuel combustion

Massive thrust output

Lighter and more compact engine design

There are two types:

Pulse Detonation Engine (PDE)

Rotating Detonation Engine (RDE) — more advanced and stable

China’s Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU) reportedly successfully tested a detonation-powered aircraft engine, dubbed “Long Sword”, that:

Two student pilots from Harv’s Air flying school were killed Tuesday morning in a mid-air collision during a training exercise in southern Manitoba.
