Commit yourself to instruction; listen carefully to words of knowledge.
Proverbs 23

How attentive are your heart and ears after reading the instruction and knowledge of this proverb? What changes will you make today? Have you read God’s word for it to instruct and increase your knowledge? Have you asked your parents’ for advice in a matter bothering you? Can you remember what was preached last Sunday? Instruction and knowledge are precious gifts; make good use of them, for life without them is painful.

In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 1 John 5

4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
Proverbs 22 KJV

Only God our Father can teach secret wisdom with great promises in this verse. You have never read fourteen words that offer you so much for so little. What will you do with God’s inspired wisdom by the pen of King Solomon? You cannot have riches, honor, and life any other way. There is no shortcut to avoid humility and the fear of God as the necessary conditions for prosperity and success. Grab this wisdom and live with it!

28 Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues. Proverbs 17

Improve your image and reputation today. Anyone can do it, even a fool. Cut your words in half – others will consider you a wise and knowledgeable person.

What a proverb! What practical advice from God and Solomon! Most people do not appreciate the incredible value of the Bible, for they have not read it, or they have not teachers that read it.

Thank God for inspiring a book that covers everything from creation to the effect of speech on reputation to the final judgment and everything in between.

The Lord Jesus Christ warned that you will give an account for every idle word in the Day of Judgment (Matt 12:36). So provide wisely for your future at His judgment seat and protect your present reputation by holding your peace and shutting your lips. Here is a double blessing, at least. Please God and men by reducing your words.

19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, James 1

23 The hearts of the wise make their mouths prudent,
and their lips promote instruction.[c]
Proverbs 16

Wise men cannot hide their wisdom; it is obvious by their speech. They do not waste it, they teach their mouths and lips to speak kindly and profitably. How a man talks says more about his degree of wisdom or folly than any other action.

Our tongue can do great good or harm, and God and men will reward us accordingly (Prov 18:21). For excellent words are beautiful things that men love (Prov 15:23).

Do we limit our words? Are we slow to speak? Do we study before speaking? Do we teach others?

28 “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
Luke 11

29 Whoever is patient has great understanding,
but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.
Proverbs 14

Are you hot tempered? Quick to get angry? These are marks of a fool. Get your spirit under control and keep it ruled, or you will hamper or destroy your life. Great wisdom includes self-control to rule your spirit. If you cannot control your anger, you will say and do many foolish things.

Wisdom is the power of right judgment; understanding is correct comprehension. Both are compromised in proportion to the speed and intensity of anger. The faster you get angry, the less wisdom you have under the influence of that anger.

Jesus Christ was the perfect Man – the fullness of God in a human body (Col 2:9). Even His enemies could not provoke Him to anger, though they tried desperately to do so, for He chose to be as a lamb at shearing time (Luke 11:53-54; 23:10; Isaiah 53:7; I Pet 2:23).

7 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. 8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.
James 5

30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
and the one who is wise saves lives.
Proverbs 11

What is a great life? A life well lived? A noble life with purpose and value? It is a man who loved God more than others; he is a tree of life to all others.

Righteous persons are called trees of life, winning souls from sin and folly to righteousness and truth. There is no higher calling, in your relationships with others, than to help them by providing correction and instruction to please their Creator and enjoy the abundant life of godliness and wisdom.

Why are you alive? What is your purpose? Are you a tree of life? Are others thankful for you helping them please God? Do you win souls? How many have you turned to the truth? Are you known for wisdom hanging from your branches?

Jesus said in John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

32 The lips of the righteous know what finds favor,
but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse.
Proverbs 10

Think before you speak, for the way you talk declares your character. For speaking without regard for the impact of your words, often causing pain, discord, and destruction. It is called wicked by the Bible.

Let us consider the impact of our words and to strive for speech that reflects a life lived in accordance with God's wilL

Speech is for the hearers, so it is their perception and opinion that counts, not yours. use them to build up, not tear down. Let us learn to speak acceptably.

Your lips say what is already in your heart, according to Jesus in Luke 6:45.

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess His Name. Hebrews 13:15

34 Blessed are those who listen to me,
watching daily at my doors,
waiting at my doorway.
Proverbs 8

Most men are too lazy and stubborn – Jesus called them wayside hearers in Mark 4:15
Others love the world, Jesus called them thorny ground hearers in Mark 4:18-19. They appreciate hearing truth, but they are more interested in money and pleasure. They cannot find the time or effort to zealously pursue wisdom. The love of money and pleasure ruins them.

But David craved wisdom. “More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

The great God will be found by any man, who will search for Him with his whole heart according to Prophet Jeremiah in Jer 29:13. Do you seek Him with your whole heart?

7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—
He will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

1My son, keep my words
and store up my commands within you.
Proverbs 7

This verse emphasizes the importance of heeding God's wisdom and commandments as a safeguard against temptation, particularly sexual immorality. It urges individuals to treasure God's word,

We often neglect the instructions and warnings given to us. Jesus Christ taught that careful hearing is very important, for He knew the enemies of retention and application. Do we crave hearing and learning to grow in knowledge. Do we review what we are taught and practice applying it? Can we teach others, or do we still need to be taught?

105 Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.

26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
Proverbs 4

To ponder means to weigh a matter mentally, to consider it carefully, to think about it, to contemplate it, and to meditate upon it. Most of us are too busy with too much noise and activity to stop and think soberly about our lives.

Let us ponder the path of our feet, where are we going? Is getting older all we are doing? Is life happening to us, rather than we directing it? Our daily and weekly routines should have a solid purpose and noble objective. Or are we on a treadmill, not making any progress?
Step back. Ponder the path of our feet. Examine ourself (II Cor 13:5) Consider our ways (Hag 1:5). Commune with our own heart (Ps 4:4).

Thank you Lord for your wisdom & reminder.

Forever grateful! In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen!

3 You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.

27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to act.
Proverbs 3

A proactive approach to helping others. It's not just about refraining from doing harm, but actively seeking to do good.
This conditionality emphasizes that we are not obligated to do the impossible, but we should act when we are able to.

The blessed God of heaven did not withhold the good of salvation from His elect, even when we did not deserve anything but eternal condemnation and punishment (Rom 5:6-10). He freely gave His only begotten Son and every other blessing as well (Rom 8:32).

Let us follow His examples today. There are blessings in giving that only those who trust the Bible and Jesus Christ can experience (Pr 11:24-25; Eccl 11:1; Luke 6:38)

44 ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
8 He guards the paths of justice,
And preserves the way of His saints.
Proverbs 2

The Lord’s wisdom and protection are available to all who will humble themselves and seek Him.

How much wisdom has He laid up for the righteous? The Bible contains more wisdom than all the educators and institutions of “higher learning” combined.

And the maximum safety we can have on earth is to walk uprightly, which is to have goals, habits, and a lifestyle of doing what is right. “For the eyes of Almighty God look throughout the world to show Himself strong for those with perfect hearts.”
II Chronicles 16:9

7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
