Another increase for minimum wage is coming! Heads up!

Manitoba’s minimum wage is increasing by 40 cents, moving from $16 to $16.40 per hour starting Oct. 1, 2026.

The province says the bump follows inflation rules, but labour groups aren’t impressed, saying workers actually need around $19.77/hour just to afford basic living in Winnipeg.

With over 40,000 people earning minimum wage, critics argue many are still stuck below the poverty line and are calling for bigger increases.
