Our thoughts are with our friend Elyse Aeryn.

Hi friends,

On Monday night (Sept. 1, 2025), Elyse was involved in a serious collision while driving her motorcycle near her home in Glace Bay. She had recently returned (on Sunday) from the Wharf Rat Rally in Digby—a dream trip she’d long envisioned. As she posted on Instagram: “Life is a damn journey. It’s all about the ride.”

With all praise and thanks due to EHS LifeFlight, Elyse was swiftly transported to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax where the efforts of brilliant paramedics, nurses, and doctors working all through Monday night stabilized her. She has now begun her long, challenging recovery. Her partner Garrett Taylor—who had been riding ahead and was not impacted—has remained at her side every moment since, coordinating with family and her music team from her bedside.

Down but never out, Elyse Aeryn is a fighter.

Over the coming days, weeks, and months there will be many decisions to be made, however what’s immediately clear is the urgent need for financial stability so Elyse and Garrett can focus 100% on healing—

As it’s his birthday today, Sound of Pop wanted to acknowledge the passing of one of our beloved songwriters. Chris Ryan passed away suddenly back in October 2024…… it was a shock and hit us extremely hard.

Chris was one of a new crop of songwriters at Sound of Pop and we had tons of fun writing songs with CR and watching them rise up the charts on Canadian Country radio and seeing them appear in many films and TV shows.

Chris was an amazing talent, always lit up the room and we miss him everyday ……

This has been a very special project for me and a long time coming. Left: Age 23

Two weeks before I landed in the hospital after multiple seizures when I had encephalitis (brain virus.)

My mental and physical health was awful. I was drinking daily, eating like crap and didn't care if I was going to make it another day. (I don't even like seeing that picture.)

Right: Age 33

Two years sober and taking care of my mental and physical health. It's hard to look at the younger Andre and know the tough spot I was in at the time spiraling out of control and knowing that I almost didn't make it to my next birthday. I am grateful to have such a supportive family and friend group to dig me out of that hole.

I support a moustache in support of Movember for men's mental health month and to remind myself that things do get better. Sometimes you have to hit a wall to realize this.

Please take care of yourself and your friends. Deal with your problems rather than just drinking them away. In the end, they're still going to be there, and you're just prolonging the inevitable. Take the time to be kind to someone or help them improve.
