From the week of February 6-13, 2025, BRGIE Acting Prime Minister (APM) Ogechuwku
Nkere visited Washington, DC to have a series of high-level meetings with United States
Senators and Congresspersons. On February 6, 2025, APM Nkere met with United States Senator
Brian Schatz (D-HI) of the Senator Foreign Relations Committee, at a private gathering held at
the BRGIE’s lobbying firm, Moran Global Strategies (MGS), in Washington, DC.
On February 13th, 2025, APM Nkere met with the following United States Senators: Senator Bill
Haggerty (R-TN), Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH), Senator Steve Daines (R-MT), and Cindy
Hyde-Smith (R-MS). Also on February 13th, 2025, APM Nkere met with the office of
Congressman Craig Goldman (R-TX), as well as holding a joint meeting with a senior
Ambazonia Governing Council (AGovC) delegation with the office of Congressman Gus
Bilirakis (R-FL).
During his meetings, APM Nkere had the opportunity to provide detailed informational briefing
to the U.S. Senators and Congresspersons regarding the BRGIE and the Biafra issue, and the
reasons why the U.S. should support Biafran independence. APM Nkere received encouraging
responses. APM Nkere had the opportunity to have extensive interactions with senior AGovC
representatives and the President of the National Representative Council of Eritrea-Government
in Exile Ghebre Bahdurai, who are also clients of MGS, during his visit to Washington, DC.
The BRGIE looks forward to having many more direct engagements with senior U.S. officials,
and thanks MGS for their facilitation of this successful and historic visit.
