South Africa’s Constitutional Court has rejected an appeal by the family of former Zambian President, Edgar Lungu to overturn the Pretoria High Court’s Ruling. The ruling allowed the Zambian government to repatriate Lungu’s body and give him a state burial despite his family’s opposition. Today’s ruling by the Constitutional Court means the Zambian government can still repatriate the body and give the former president a state burial.The Court order states that “the leave to appeal directly to this court is refused” which means the family cannot make another appeal at the Constitutional court but however can continue with its case at the High Court.
