BNP on the wrong track
On the very first morning of the second coming of Bangladesh, what do you expect? Fresh air. The air of freedom. But what did you get? BNP’s terror. You wake up with the slogans of BNP men.
Everybody is terrified. Everybody already started hating BNP. Social media is flooded with posts against BNP. How have they earned such hatred in just two days of political change?
Well, they totally misread the generation. They totally misread their game. They totally misread what they are supposed to do.
The Gen-Z revolution did not happen against the Awami League, Chhatra League, etc. It was against the activities of the Awami League, Chhatra League, etc.
So if you do the same thing with just a different name, you are totally no different. And if they think they will survive this, in Gen Z terms, they are called "delulu" (delusional).
Let me explain what BNP has done. The very next morning, every goli, every neighborhood woke up to their slogans and showdowns. Not a good vibe. Meanwhile, the freedom-seeking Gen-Z has been busy guarding temples, protecting minorities, spreading positive messages, cleaning the Parliament, and returning things to Ganabhaban. BNP’s first course of action was vandalism, terror, extortion, and invasion.
The first day, I understood the immediate reaction—adrenaline talking and all. The second day should have been their chance for salvation.
But they doubled down on doing what they should not have done. They organised a rally, and a political gathering, and occupied Awami League and Jubo League offices.
It’s a stark comparison: when students, who brought in the change, are trying flat out to control the traffic, they are doing a tremendous job in the absence of traffic police.
Students have been guarding different areas in Mohammadpur last night, where there were incidents of dacoity and looting. In Dhanmondi, BNP is gathering on trucks, and those trucks were regulated on the road by the students, whereas it was supposed to be the opposite.
In no sense is the BNP rally today welcomed by ordinary people, as shown on social media. In no sense, BNP can play the game with the 15-year-old syllabus. It’s not the same time. The faster they understand the better, otherwise, their suddenly brightly lit candle will soon be blown out.
The way the Gen-Z sweeps the road, the same way they will sweep out BNP too.
