Principles of Sustainable Development of Georesources as a Way to Reduce Urban Vulnerability, written by: Cheynesh Kongar-Syuryun, Roman Klyuev, Vladimir Golik, Armine Oganesyan, Danila Solovykh, Marat Khayrutdinov and Danila Adigamov

๐Ÿ“œ The paper discusses how unsustainable mining practices, particularly in potash extraction, contribute to resource depletion, environmental damage, and increased vulnerability of cities. It proposes a sustainable mining approach using room-and-pillar methods with artificial supports and industrial waste backfill to improve safety, environmental outcomes, and economic and social stability.

Humanity development is associated with higher spiritual and social behaviour and financial shape, which is an undeniable factor of urbanisation. Previously, in areas of georesource concentration, cities and settlements were formed with people exploiting these georesources. However, imperfect techno...

Title: Reading Significance: Using AI to Study Historic Recognition

Authors: Melissa Rovner and Emily Talen

This paper argues that the National Register of Historic Places reflects preservation values that privilege architecturally distinctive and affluent properties while systematically overlooking vernacular buildings and places associated with working-class and racially marginalized communities. Using AI-based text and image analysis of more than 100,000 listings and a case study of Lake Forest, the study shows that both preservation documents and AI models emphasize architecture and elite histories while largely omitting labor, diversity, and community context, highlighting both the promise and risks of AI in addressing inequities in historic preservation.

Title: Segmenting Tourist Expenditure in Second Home Tourism: Evidence from Market and Non-Market Tourists, written by: Josรฉ Carlos Collado-Gonzรกlez and Pablo Juan Cardenas Garcia

Using data from 1,253,115 tourist observations in Spain (2015โ€“2024), this study compares market tourists (staying in paid accommodation) with non-market tourists, including second-home users, and finds that although non-market tourists spend less per stay, their longer visits and more evenly distributed travel patterns provide a stable contribution to destination economies. A k-means cluster analysis further reveals substantial heterogeneity within second-home tourism, highlighting the need for more targeted management strategies and the potential of this segment to reduce tourism seasonality.
