I read a highly informative article today written by Alan Cattell, the Editor of IMCZ: International Men's Club of Zug, in their quarterly newsletter. Alan covers the following topics:

- Summary of current SARS-CoV-2 status
- Vaccine development, and three main strategies of defence
- In depth analysis, and explanation of the “SwissCovid DP3T App” – also covering privacy and security concerns

Siren Testing across Switzerland

Every year on the first Wednesday in February, all sirens across Switzerland are tested. The test will also be carried out on smartphones using the Alertswiss App.

The aim is to ascertain the operational readiness of both the "General Alarm" and the "Water Alarm" sirens. The general public is not required to adopt a particular behavior or take protective measures.

At 13:30 the "General Alarm" signal is sounded across Switzerland. This is a regular ascending and descending tone, which lasts for one minute, and is repeated once after a two-minute interval. Where necessary, the sirens can continue to be tested until 14:00.

After 14:15, the "Water Alarm" signal is tested in those areas that are in the proximity of dams. It consists of twelve low continuous tones lasting twenty seconds and repeated at ten-second intervals. The operational readiness of a total of 7,200 sirens is tested.
