One of the strangest things about social media is how quickly it can make extraordinary things feel ordinary.

Run long enough and you’ll start seeing people casually knock out marathons, ultras, mountain races, and distances that once seemed impossible.

That’s inspiring… but it can also make us forget how far we’ve come.

Whether you ran 2 miles, 20 miles, or somewhere in between this week, don’t let comparison steal your perspective.

What you’re doing is harder, braver, and more meaningful than you probably give yourself credit for.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from marathon training is that fitness and fatigue are not the same thing.

As runners, we often feel the urge to squeeze in one more hard workout before race day. One more chance to prove we’re ready.

But the final days before a marathon aren’t about building fitness. They’re about letting your body absorb the work you’ve already done.

That’s why my coach and I like to schedule my last big speed workout about 10-11 days before the race.

It gives me enough time to recover while still reminding my legs what quick turnover feels like. By race morning, I’m carrying fitness to the start line instead of unnecessary fatigue.

You’ve spent months preparing for this moment.

Now let recovery do its job.
