🌍 [AFP] On July 23, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued an opinion considered historic. It recognizes that states have obligations to achieve results in the face of the “urgent and existential threat” of climate change. It also states that their failures to do so are “wrongful”. 🇱🇾 [AFP] - Will the International Criminal Court (ICC) have better luck this time around in the Libyan case? On July 18, it announced the arrest in Germany, two days earlier, of a Libyan suspect who was the subject of a secret arrest warrant. Last January, the ICC suffered a major setback when Italian authorities sent back to his country another Libyan suspect who had been arrested on Italian soil at the request of the Court.

On July 18, the International Criminal Court announced the arrest of a Libyan suspect in Germany. In hope that it doesn't go through the same humiliation as in Italy last January.

🇦🇫 [opinion] - Judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) have allowed arrest warrants against two top leaders of the Taliban in Afghanistan on July 8. Their value is essentially symbolic, acknowledges human rights activist Shaharzad Akbar. But it contributes to help other justice efforts while the Taliban are being normalized.
