👏 Making Your Brand Reveal Memorable (for All the Right Reasons)

Just read this great article from ontwerp.ch about how to present logo & brand identity work in a way that earns trust, wow-moments, and meaningful decisions.

Key takeaways:

Start strong: use a discovery phase + collaboration to uncover what the brand really is — values, audience, what they love or hate.

Use style-scapes (fancy mood boards) early on: they show the direction, feel & voices of the brand before the logo even gets locked in.

Working with festivals and musicians is always a gas.

There are fun aspects to each project. In particular, the poster designs give you space to interpret the festival, musicians and atmosphere. It is a piece of art that exists for pleasure and practical use. Being something meant for use, you find them becoming rare over time. Holding a glimpse of the time it was created in. Such as these four done for 33 Fest. I will always love these designs.

Last year, I shared this article on logo design tips. I thought it was time to share it again.

There are many logos out in the world. Increasingly, people are turning to AI for logo creation, taking away the journey of hands-on experience from the amateur graphic designer. Accompanying that is the barrage of logos that have been badly put together with no thought. Simply an image that sort of represents your brand. Opening a company, I mean building a company, is not easy. Easier for some, but overall, keeping those doors open is not easy. For so many people, it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build their own legacy.

A logo that is for the more down-to-earth meat enthusiast. I'm sure we can all agree that ontwerp's logo is just way better. It brings out the side of us that is more literal and evokes the side that loves to watch cooking shows. Enough said I think.

Prime & Cleaver: Premium, modern feel — great for a high-end or artisanal butchery.

The prime cut is really what you want. In this imagined brand, we are delving into the artisanal side of the meat world. I feel like we are showcasing a brand that views itself as distinct, offering something unique in the industry. The AI-suggested logo is quite crude and lacks uniqueness.

We developed a logo that stands out. It has a certain edgy mystery about it, bringing you in closer. Tickling the intrigue to suggest that you may want to know more about what is behind the door.

Meat Your Match: Edgy and direct — perfect for a brand that celebrates meat unapologetically.

I like a brand that pushes boundaries and truly embraces what they are all about. Brands are often trying not to offend people instead of focusing on their mission. Ask yourself, what value does my brand put into the world? Essentially, what is its purpose?

Meat Your Match could easily be a fairly unique brand. When we presented this to AI, it came up with something extremely meat-forward and focused on it being a type of butcher's shop. But you see, I think it is so much more. Unapologetically celebrating meat can be done in many ways. Perhaps it is a butcher's shop that also hosts weekly meetups for meat enthusiasts, or even a singles night where butchers can find like-minded partners. This is why I think that ontwerp's approach to the logo is far more dynamic. It is clean, bold and presents itself with an air of modernity.

Meat Snacks: Earthy and trustworthy — evokes quality, tradition, and sustainability. This was the prompt for a Butcher shop named Meat Snacks. Clearly specialising in little snack items like pies, biltong, salami sticks and so on.

Our designer created a fun logo that captures a quirky side of the snacking table. I think it brings together the idea of a charcuterie board very nicely. While also playing on the idea of carrots as a snack and the food of snacks. It is all a bit playful.

The AI logo is just random. It has no life, and it is simply an image trying to be something more than it is. It conveys nothing about the company and presents no personality.
