I’m not a people-pleaser by default.
But there are people I find it hard to say no to.

And when I say yes too quickly—without checking in with my own energy or goals—I end up stretching myself thin.
That usually leads to overwhelm. And sometimes even resentment.

What I’ve had to learn is this:
Every yes is also a no.

When I say yes to something out of habit or pressure, I’m often saying no to what actually matters—rest, my priorities, or time with my family.

So now, I pause.
I ask: Does this align with what I want for this season?
And if not, I let it be a no.

Mini action → Take 5 minutes today:
What have you said yes to recently that didn’t serve you?
What’s one small no you can practice this week?

You don’t need to be available for everything.
You just need to stay available for what matters.

👉 This is Day 2 of 26 days to start 2026 stronger—especially for moms in business. We’re talking better habits, clearer focus, and rhythms that match your season.

One of the smallest but most powerful shifts I made last year?
Putting my phone away—before the day even starts.

Every night, I switch it to airplane mode and leave it to charge in the kitchen. No doomscrolling. No “just checking Slack real quick.” No jumping straight into everyone else’s thoughts before I’ve even had my own.

Here’s what that actually creates:
• No distractions from social or email before 9
• Presence while I make breakfast and dress my son
• Mental clarity to focus when it’s time to work

You don’t need a 5AM miracle morning to reset.
You just need a boundary that protects your brain.

👉 This is Day 1 of 26 days to start 2026 stronger—especially for moms in business. We’re talking better habits, clearer focus, and rhythms that match your season.

Which one of your morning habits needs a reset?

I had to make a really tough choice, but I don’t regret it.

This year didn’t teach me how to do more.
It taught me how to do differently.

A few things I’m carrying with me, especially for fellow moms building businesses:

• Productivity is great… but you also need space that’s just yours.
Not to optimize. Not to grow. Just to breathe. And no, you don’t need to feel guilty about it.

• You can’t run your business full steam when you have a toddler and only a few days of childcare.
That’s not a mindset issue — it’s a reality check.

• You don’t have to choose between being a mom and an entrepreneur.
But the pace will be slower. And that’s not failure — it’s sustainability.

• It’s very easy to fall back into old habits that no longer serve you.
The real change isn’t “never falling off”… it’s getting back on the bandwagon again and again.
(Yes, that includes exercise. Ask me how I know 😅)

• I’m deeply grateful I allowed myself to shift priorities in the last quarter of the year.
My family needed me. New projects needed care. And honestly? I needed to slow down too.

What about you? What didn’t go as planned but now you’re happy you did?

💔 End of year and you’re quietly wondering…
Do I keep going with this business or am I done?

Before you make that call, give yourself a 7-day reset instead of a snap decision.

On the last episode of Hey Boss Mama, I share a gentle one-week process from my conversation with entrepreneur and mom of two, Rebecca Farley:
Days 1–2: Reality check your season (kids, sleep, health, money)
Day 3: Spot what’s actually working
Day 4: Name the drains and energy leaks
Day 5: Make one small cut to lighten the load
Day 6: Do a support audit at home + in business
Day 7: Ask, “What tiny change would make this sustainable for the next 30 days?”

Quitting might still be the right move one day.
But you deserve to make that decision from a grounded place, not just end-of-year burnout.

👉 Swipe through the 7-day reset, then tune into Episode 025:

I’m super happy to share my little win of the week…
My Spotify Award for being a 2025 Instant Hit Show! 🎉

Is it basically a participation trophy?
Yes.
Am I still celebrating?
Absolutely. 😄

“Newborns just sleep and feed, right?”
…aaaand then reality hits. 😅

So many of us started (or grew) our business thinking, I’ve done this without kids, how hard can it be? Then we meet the combo of:
• zero uninterrupted sleep
• clients still needing things
• a body + brain in full recovery
• a tiny human who literally never clocks out

You’re not “too emotional” or “bad at business” for finding that exhausting. It is exhausting. And it makes sense if your timelines, expectations, and capacity need to change.

In this week’s Hey Boss Mama convo, Rebecca Farley shares her journey from starting her business 8 months pregnant to becoming a go to branding expert for her clients… and what she’d do differently now to protect her energy, her health, and her love for her work.

If you’re in the thick of it with a baby and a business, this one will feel like a deep exhale.

💁‍♀️ I wanted a way to gently encourage our extended family to prioritise experiences over gifts with our son… and I couldn’t find anything that made it fun to do together

🧏‍♀️ I didn’t want awkward conversations about “please don’t buy more toys,” or to sound ungrateful

🙅‍♀️ But I also didn’t want to be the one managing yet another pile of plastic our kid barely touches...

So I started thinking:
What if we had a simple, playful way for grandparents, aunts and uncles to pledge adventures with him instead? 🥳
😊 That’s why I decided to create my own.

I just published my first kids activity book, called Kizook! 🎉

It’s an activity + memory book where family members “gift” adventures (museum visit, forest walk, movie & popcorn night…) and then help fill in the memory pages afterwards — with drawings, photos, tickets, little treasures.

It turns “What should we buy?” into “What can we do together?” 💛

If you’ve also been looking for a way to steer your family toward less stuff and more shared moments, get a copy for your child here 👉 www.heybossmama.com/kizook 🎁

Curious: how do you handle the “too many gifts” conversation in your family?

When you’ve lived abroad for years, big life decisions start to feel…complicated.
Do I stay or go? Build a life here or “go back home”?
Your brain wants a 10-step plan. Your heart just wants a clear yes.

For me, the “yes” started with something very small:
Girl gets a birthday message on LinkedIn from boy.
Girl flies to Switzerland.
Boy says, “Let’s have a hike and a fondue.” (🇨🇭😜 of course.)
Girl says, “Let’s grow old together.”
Boy says, “Ok, let’s do this thing called life together.”

After 15 years abroad, he gave me a real reason to come home.
Not a perfect plan. Just a grounded, mutual yes.

Big leaps of faith rarely feel 100% certain on paper.
But you can feel when something in you quietly says, this is right for me now.

What’s the craziest / bravest / biggest leap of faith you’ve ever taken?
Tell me in the comments—I’d love to read your story.

The holidays are upon us. I love this season of warmth, light and merriment ✨🎄🕯️ but you and I also know what’s coming...
More toys. More plastic. More stuff our kids will barely touch. 🫠

As a mom (and business owner), I realised I don’t want my son to be trained into becoming a little consumer. I want memories and time with family, because that’s what really matters.

So I turned that discomfort into something new and just published my first kids activity book, called Kizook! 🎉

It’s an activity + memory book where kids “unwrap” adventures (baking day, zoo trip, cosy movie night…) instead of more plastic. Family can gift experiences, and you fill in the memories together afterwards 💛

If you’re also in the “less clutter, more connection” camp this Christmas, you can get it here 👉 www.heybossmama.com/kizook 🎁

I’d love to know: are you trying to shift gifts towards experiences this year?

When you’re building a business and raising a family, the voices around you shape your capacity. That’s why this line fromRenee Hastings is so good.

She’s lived it—from early, scrappy beginnings to leading a team that helps entrepreneurs breathe again. The constant? A circle that speaks courage, not chaos.

Need more people that “speak life into you?”
• Identify 3 “life-givers.” People who make you feel capable and clear after a five-minute chat.
• Muffle the noise. Put one draining input on Do Not Disturb for a week (for me, that’s usually social media off).
• Ask for support. Send one message: “I’m handing off [task]. Know a great VA? I’d value your recommendation.”
• Protect your energy. Book a 20-minute check-in with someone who tells you the truth with kindness.

What you’ll learn in my interview with Renee, is that you don’t need a huge team to feel supported—you need the right voices and a few brave hand-offs.

From graduating high school at 16 with a one-month-old to building a thriving company— Renee Hastings ' turning point was simple: she hired a VA. Her capacity (and peace) changed first… then the business caught fire. 🔥

If you’re running on fumes, this might be your sign to hire a VA.

👉 start with this 2-minute audit:
List everything you did in the last seven days.

Mark each as:
🙋‍♀️ CEO: Only you can do this.
💁‍♀️ Skilled: Needs context or judgment.
🙆‍♀️ Routine: Repeatable and hand-off ready.

Everything labeled Routine is your delegation starter pack.

You don’t need a full-time team—just the right support to lighten your load.
