This Christmas, we’re opening our hearts through the Sack of Kindness Project. A humble sack of rice means nourishment for a Filipino family - it is survival, it is comfort, it is hope that can go beyond this holiday season.

What could be more heartwarming than opening the holiday season the Filipino way—surrounded by great food, lively music, and the kind of laughter only kababayans can spark?

If you’re in or near Herisau tomorrow, 29 November, consider yourself lucky. Paskong Pusong Pinoy kicks off at 11 AM, Chälblihalle and you’re invited to enjoy a full day filled with the sights, sounds, and flavors that feel like home.

Consular services will also be available from 11 AM to 5 PM.

And even if you’re coming from outside Appenzell, this celebration is well worth the trip. Let the spirit of the season lead the way!

On Sunday, November 2, 2026, the halls of the Reformierte Kirchgemeinde Bümpliz were filled with the angelic voices of the Imusicapella Chamber Choir from the Philippines, led by their founder and conductor, Tristan Caliston Ignacio.

The ensemble captivated the audience with a rich and diverse repertoire, from beloved Filipino classics such as Leron-Leron Sinta and Rosas Pandan, to modern favorites like On the Wings of Love (popularized in the PH by Regine Velasquez) and We Will Rock You (by the Queens). They even surprised everyone with an ethereal rendition of KPop BTS’s Permission to Dance.

To the delight of the multicultural audience, the performance ended with a standing ovation and enthusiastic calls for an encore. The choir’s harmonies and heartfelt delivery created an atmosphere of warmth and joy - a beautiful contrast to the cold, rainy weather outside.

Imusicapella will continue with their European tour after performing in Switzerland. Their appearance in Bern was made possible through the help of Samahang Pilipina, led by its President, Maria Teresa Eviota and Brady Eviota. Pioneer members of Samahang Pilipina including Anny Hefti and Marcelina Manalo-Ermert were also present.

Truly grateful for these moments of learning and conviviality that opened doors to new connections we are committed to nurturing, and for the chance to keep Filipino literature alive, seen, and heard in our host country and in the diaspora.

𝗪𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵, 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻. In a room that could have been filled with strangers, there was laughter, tight hugs, and joyful chatter. The autumn gloom and cold outside were no match for the bright sunshine every Filipino carries in their heart. It was contagious, and there was simply no hiding from it.

We are deeply thankful to everyone for their presence, especially to 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐲𝐨 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨, for helping create a space where we could gather and learn.
