Eritrean moms don’t play at weddings 😂🇪🇷
Mama had to remind the bridesmaids:
“You’re here to support the bride, not to compete with her! 😂 If she’s sweating, bring a towel and wipe her face! You’re not here to look prettier than the bride or find yourself a husband!” 😭😂😂

Bridesmaids after Mama’s speech: 👁️👄👁️

Eritrean mothers will make sure everybody remembers their assignment. 😂🇪🇷❤️

🇪🇷 Meet the Bilen People of Eritrea

The Bilen are one of Eritrea’s nine recognized ethnic groups, with communities concentrated mainly around Keren and the surrounding areas of the Anseba region.

The Bilen have their own language, Blin (Bilen), which belongs to the Central Cush*tic (Agaw) branch of the Afroasiatic language family. Their culture reflects generations of life in Eritrea’s highlands and valleys, with strong traditions of family, community, farming, music, dance and hospitality.

One fascinating part of Bilen identity is its religious diversity: Bilen communities include both Christians and Muslims, whose traditions have lived alongside one another for generations.

Traditional Bilen celebrations are known for colorful clothing, music and communal dancing, while weddings and other gatherings bring families and communities together.

🇪🇷 The Bilen are an important part of Eritrea’s cultural mosaic — different languages, traditions and histories forming one country.

Do you know something interesting about Bilen culture? Share it in the comments. ❤️🇪🇷

🇪🇷 Meet the Tigre People of Eritrea

The Tigre people are one of Eritrea’s nine ethnic groups, with communities historically concentrated across the northern and western lowlands, including parts of Anseba and the Keren area.

🗣️ Language: They speak Tigre (Tigrayit), a Semitic language. Although Tigre and Tigrinya share historical linguistic roots, Tigre is a distinct language and should not be confused with Tigrinya.

☪️ Faith & Community: Most Tigre people are Muslim. Family, community, hospitality and strong social ties have long played an important role in Tigre society.

🐪 Traditional Life: Pastoralism and livestock herding have historically been important to many Tigre communities, while others have practiced agriculture and more settled ways of life. Tigre communities are diverse, so traditions and lifestyles can vary from one area to another.

🥁 Music & Dance: Tigre culture has its own rich musical, dance and celebratory traditions, contributing to the beautiful cultural diversity of Eritrea.

❤️ One Eritrea, Many Cultures

Eritrea is home to nine ethnic groups, each carrying its own languages, music, traditions and heritage. Today, we celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Tigre people. 🇪🇷❤️
