Last year we had the opportunity to meet the Intore Warriors in Burundi thanks to Charles

We witnessed the Warrior Dance which was incredible. It would have been performed for the Kings after a battle (whether they lost or won) demonstrating the power, strength and combat moves used in the fight.

The clothing that were used were from the hides of powerful animals such as leopards and lions. Because of the symbolism of the dance, women were not allowed to perform it.

However! Whilst I was observing, one of the man asked me to come forward and encouraged me to dance with them, his other tribe members handed me a spear and shield. Charles said he had never had a female guest be invited to join so that’s when I realized what an honor it was for me!

One of the reasons I love travelling around the continent of Africa! Everyone is absolutely welcoming and inviting to show their culture and share it with you.

happy national day Singapore

If you didn’t already know, I actually have quite a few ties to the country. My mom is Singaporean. I was born here but I didn’t live here until I was 10 for about 4 years. And occasionally been back to visit over the years. Although my last visit was in 2019 for personal reasons and I haven’t been back since until this year.

I am not a patriotic person to any of my countries but it’s always a warm feeling looking back at my time spent here over the years… the friendships I still have here and the memories created. I think the last time I was in country for National Day must’ve been when I was 14. So it’s kinda nice being back on this day after all this time.

Happy 61st birthday SG 🇸🇬 even though your landscapes have changed over the years, it’s always nice to call you home when I’m back.

I have taken the advice of “travel while you’re young” very seriously… when I was a kid, I was thrown into the world of travel with my upbringing. I would see these little clips of people asking the older people what their regret was and a lot responded with “not seeing the world” or “not adventuring when they could”… amongst many other responses (obviously).

Little Caroline always thought how silly these regrets were - of course Adult Caroline is very much informed about passport privilege and what a privilege it is to be able to travel. But for some reason, hearing how this was someone's regret flipped a switch in my brain and while I've always travelled… now i'm travelling to some insane places to see and appreciate just how beautiful our world is.

these are just some of the many beautiful places we’ve visited in the last 15 months and there is no slowing us down. We’ve literally gone to some far flung places… some days i feel like im "behind in life" because i decided to leave my corporate job but more often than not, i realise how lucky i am to see all this before they disappear.

no idea what is the point of this caption but maybe it's to encourage you to just do that thing you've always wanted, even if you think you're behind- you're just living life according to your timeline.
