Happy birthday to camera ninja ! We’ve done so many fun projects together, I’ll never forget when you agreed to film the dog races with me, stuck in the back of a sled for hours in freezing rain. My favourite part, though, is when I’m directing and say, “What about this shot?” and Myron replies, “I already did it!” 😂 You’re the best, amigo!

The Red Dog and I were hired to capture some photos of the new cabins at the Doukhobor Dugout House National Historic Site of Canada.

There are two cozy new cabins where you can spend the night and have the whole place to yourself. Located just outside Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan, it’s like having a sleepover at a living museum.

Now this gets me thinking—should I make a documentary about the story of the Doukhobors and how they ended up in Canada?

Just a heads-up: August 22–23 is the only weekend with availability.

They Never Left… But Why?

In this Creator Network documentary, I embark on an expedition to one of Canada’s most remote towns, Uranium City, to meet the people who still call it home.

This journey took us across Lake Athabasca, the eighth largest lake in Canada, and one of the wildest and most beautiful places I have ever seen. We faced average temperatures of minus 30 degrees, long days on the ice, and more than a few blisters.

Deep gratitude to Ken Mercredi, Dean Classen, Daniel and Samantha Sidebottom, Scott Hale, and Tanya Alfonsin for welcoming us and sharing your stories.

Thank you to Sensei Polar Explorer Eric Larsen for helping me navigate the lake.
And to Geoff and Regan Horn from Prairie Summit Shop for providing the essential gear for this expedition.

This adventure deepened my admiration for those living in remote communities.

I always said I’d never do an adventure on a tandem bike… but I never said anything about tandem paddleboards.

So last weekend, I joined Kyla from Back2Nature Wellness and Adventures on what I’d call a luxury adventure. We started paddling from Outlook. Kyla brought all the boards, the safety gear, and taught us how to use it. Then we gently floated down the river until it was lunchtime.

Like some kind of Prairie Fairy, Kyla handed out Prairie Grazer brunch boxes to each of us. I finished mine… and then asked around for leftovers.

Then came a guided meditation — I call my version snoring shavasana (fortunately, no snoring on my part this time). We kept paddling downriver and ended up at Camp Wolf Willow which, by the way, is also a winery. I mean… how many cool things can you pack into a single overnight experience?

After checking into our cozy glamping tents, we hit the sauna. There’s a whole bunch of fun hats to wear inside, but as soon as I saw the fox one, I knew it was my favorite.

I totally recommend this adventure for anyone who loves nature but also wants comfort. Every detail is taken care of — all you have to do is show up and have fun.

Tell Kyla that the guy with the hat sent you. 😉

P.S. Fozzy stayed home for this one. I needed a tandem partner who actually paddles — and not one who just wants to chase squirrels. (Still love you, Fozzy.) 🐾
