✝️Saint Dominic, also known as Saint Dominic de Guzmán, was a Spanish priest and preacher who founded the Order of Preachers, commonly called the Dominicans. He devoted his life to preaching the Gospel, defending Christian teaching, prayer, and serving people in need.

✝️Early Life

Saint Dominic was born around 1170 in Caleruega, Kingdom of Castile, in present-day Spain.

He came from a noble Christian family. From his childhood, Dominic was known for his love of prayer, learning, and compassion for the poor.

He studied theology at the University of Palencia and eventually became a priest.

✝️A Life of Preaching

Dominic became concerned about people who had been led away from Catholic teaching. He believed that the best response was not force, but truth, prayer, good example, and patient preaching.

He traveled throughout southern France, preaching and teaching. He lived simply and depended on God's providence, following the example of the apostles.

✝️Founding the Dominicans

In 1216, Pope Honorius III officially approved the Order of Preachers.

The new religious order was dedicated especially to:

Preaching the Gospel.

Studying Sacred Scripture and theology.

Prayer and contemplation.

Teaching the Christian faith.

The members became known as Dominicans.

✝️The Story of the Transfiguration of the Lord

The Transfiguration of the Lord is one of the most glorious events in the life of Jesus Christ. It is recorded in the Gospels of Gospel of Matthew (17:1–8), Gospel of Mark (9:2–8), and Gospel of Luke (9:28–36).

✝️Jesus Goes Up the Mountain

About a week after telling His disciples that He would suffer, die, and rise again, Jesus took three of His closest apostles—Saint Peter, Saint James the Great, and Saint John the Apostle—up a high mountain to pray. Christian tradition identifies this mountain as Mount Tabor in present-day Israel.

While Jesus was praying, an extraordinary event took place.

✝️Jesus Is Transfigured

The appearance of Jesus was suddenly transformed before the apostles.

His face shone like the sun.

His clothes became dazzling white, brighter than any earthly garment.

His divine glory, usually hidden beneath His human nature, was revealed.

The apostles witnessed a glimpse of Christ's heavenly majesty.

✝️Moses and Elijah Appear

Two great figures from the Old Testament appeared beside Jesus:

Moses, representing the Law.

Elijah, representing the Prophets.

They spoke with Jesus about His coming suffering, death, and resurrection in Jerusalem.

Their presence showed that Jesus fulfilled everything promised in the Law and the Prophets.

✝️Peter's Response

Overwhelmed by the beauty of the moment, Peter said:

> "Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."

Peter wanted to remain in that glorious experience forever.

The Voice of the Father

A bright cloud overshadowed them, symbolizing God's presence.

From the cloud came the voice of God the Father:

> "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him." (Matthew 17:5)

Hearing this, the apostles fell to the ground in fear.

Jesus approached them, touched them gently, and said:

> "Rise, and do not be afraid."

When they looked up, they saw only Jesus.

✝️Coming Down the Mountain

As they descended the mountain, Jesus instructed Peter, James, and John not to tell anyone what they had seen until after His Resurrection.

Only later did they fully understand the meaning of the Transfiguration.

Why the Transfiguration Is Important

The Transfiguration reveals several important truths:

Jesus is truly the Son of God.

His divine glory shines through His human nature.

He fulfills the Law and the Prophets.

His coming Passion would lead to His Resurrection and glory.

✝️Saint John Vianney, also known as the Curé of Ars, is one of the most beloved priests in the history of the Catholic Church. Renowned for his holiness, humility, and dedication to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, he is the patron saint of parish priests.

✝️Early Life

Saint John Vianney was born on May 8, 1786, in Dardilly, near Lyon, France.

He was the fourth of six children in a devout farming family. During the French Revolution, when the Church faced persecution, his family secretly attended Mass celebrated by priests who risked their lives to minister to the faithful. These experiences deeply shaped John's faith.

✝️Call to the Priesthood

From a young age, John desired to become a priest. His path was not easy, as he struggled with formal academic studies, particularly Latin.

Despite these challenges, his perseverance, deep prayer life, and exemplary character convinced his superiors that God had truly called him. He was ordained a priest in 1815.

✝️Curé of Ars

In 1818, Father John was assigned to the small village of Ars, France. The parish was spiritually neglected, and many people had drifted away from the faith.

Through his example, preaching, prayer, and sacrifices, he transformed the village into a vibrant center of Christian life.

✝️He encouraged:

Frequent reception of the sacraments.

Devotion to the Eucharist.

✝️Early Life

Saint Lydia was born in the 1st century AD in Thyatira, a city in Asia Minor (present-day Akhisar, Turkey).

She was a successful merchant who sold purple cloth, a valuable fabric prized by royalty and wealthy citizens. Her business brought her to Philippi, a Roman city in Macedonia (present-day Greece).

Although she was a Gentile, Lydia worshipped the God of Israel and regularly gathered for prayer with other believers.

✝️Conversion to Christianity

Lydia's story is recorded in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 16:11–15).

During his second missionary journey, Saint Paul the Apostle came to Philippi and preached to a group of women gathered for prayer by the river.

Scripture tells us:

Lydia believed in Jesus Christ and was baptized along with the members of her household, becoming the first known Christian convert in Europe.

✝️Early Life

Saint Eusebius was born around AD 283 in Sardinia, Italy.

After the death of his father, his family moved to Rome, where he received a Christian education. From an early age, he was known for his devotion, humility, and love of the Church.

✝️Bishop of Vercelli

In AD 345, Eusebius was chosen as the first Bishop of Vercelli, in northern Italy.

He introduced a unique way of life for his clergy by encouraging them to live together in community, following a monastic style of prayer, study, and service while carrying out their pastoral duties.

✝️As bishop, he:

Preached the Gospel faithfully.

Strengthened the Christian communities.

Cared for the poor and the sick.

Formed holy and educated clergy.

Promoted unity within the Church.

✝️Defender of the Faith

During the A***n controversy, many denied the full divinity of Jesus Christ.

Saint Eusebius firmly defended the teachings established at the First Council of Nicaea, which proclaimed that Christ is truly God.

Because he refused to support A***nism, Emperor Constantius II exiled him from Italy.
