"The Oku Grass Cutting Ceremony (Ebwiy-Kembaah) was successfully carried out in an atmosphere of peace and unity under the esteemed leadership of Ebchio-Faay Ngashantu, Traditional Prime Minister of the Oku Fondom and Chief of Mbam-Oku, alongside Ebchio-Faay Ndifon Nonki, Chief of Elak-Oku. Both dignitaries represented His Majesty Fon Ngum IV, The Fon of Oku, during this sacred traditional rite.
Oku remains a unique and united Fondom in Bui Division, known for its one unique language, one Fon and one Kwifon, comprising 34 villages each led by a chief appointed by the Fon of Oku and Gazetted by the Cameroon Government. The Fondom also includes two Adorâtes and over 200 family heads who customarily join His Majesty the Fon in harmony to perform these ancestral rituals.
This ceremony once again reaffirms our cultural identity and the enduring unity that defines the people of Oku"
