Case: A 28-year-old patient was prescribed ciprofloxacin for a urinary tract infection. She took her antibiotic with her daily glass of milk 🥛. What Happened? Symptoms persisted even after 5 days of therapy. Antibiotic absorption was reduced. Risk of treatment failure & resistance increased. Pharmacology Insight: Ciprofloxacin (and similar antibiotics like doxycycline, tetracycline) binds with calcium in milk, yogurt, cheese. This prevents proper absorption in the gut. Result → Lower drug levels → Reduced effectiveness. Key Takeaway for Pharmacists & Clinicians: 💡 Counsel patients to: Take these antibiotics with water 💧 Avoid dairy 2 hours before & after dosing Check for food–drug interactions when dispensing 📚 Reference: U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). Drug Interactions: What You Should Know.

Seizures typically progress through three phases. First, the tonic phase involves sudden muscle stiffening, a possible cry, bluish skin (cyanosis), incontinence, and body arching—lasting just seconds. This is followed by the clonic phase, marked by jerking limb movements, eye blinking, frothy saliva, and continued incontinence or cyanosis. Finally, the postictal phase is the recovery period, where the person may be confused, sleepy, limp, unresponsive, and drooling. Recognizing these phases helps ensure better care and safety. If a seizure lasts over 5 minutes or it’s their first episode, call for emergency help immediately.

Russia’s National Medical Research Radiology Center recently reported that Enteromix, an mRNA / viral‑vector cancer vaccine, showed 60‑80% reduction in tumor size and slower tumor progression in preclinical studies, with improved survival in animal models. While officials say it is “ready for use,” that refers to having completed necessary animal‐studies and awaiting regulatory approval—not that it’s yet available widely for patients.

ALL ABOUT MENSTRUATION

🎯M£nstruation is the monthly shedding of the uterine lining, marked by ble£ding. It begins at puberty (menarche) and ends at menopause.

🎯The cycle starts on day 1 of ble£ding and typically lasts 24 to 38 days, though length and regularity can vary. Ble£ding itself usually lasts 4 to 8 days.

🎯The cycle is regulated by pituitary hormones (FSH and LH) and ovarian hormones (estrogen and progesterone), which prepare the body for possible pregnancy.
