🇨🇲 Bryan Mbeumo Becomes Manchester United CEO's Son's Favourite Player

Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada has revealed that his son, who was once a die-hard Manchester City supporter, is now a committed United fan. Even more remarkable for Cameroonians, his favourite player at Old Trafford is none other than Bryan Mbeumo.

Berrada recalled that when he left Manchester City for Manchester United, his son initially refused to switch sides, telling him: “Dad, you can go to United, but I’m staying with City.”

That stance has completely changed. The young fan now regularly follows United and has placed Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo at the top of his list of favourite players.

For Cameroonian football fans, it is yet another sign of Mbeumo’s growing reputation and the excitement he is generating around Manchester United.

Renewed Amba, Military Clashes Leave Casualties, Armoured Vehicle Destroyed in Bui

Bui Division witnessed another day of intense fighting on June 6 as government forces and separatist fighters engaged in a series of confrontations across the area.

Separatist fighters affiliated with the Bui Unity Warriors claimed they killed a soldier and seized a weapon during an ambush near the administrative headquarters in Tobin, Kumbo on June 5.

In a separate operation on June 6, security forces reportedly raided Sop village in Jakiri Subdivision, where about eight separatist fighters were allegedly killed and several others wounded.

The fighting continued in Wainamah, a key entry point into Bui, where separatist fighters reportedly detonated a landmine that destroyed a military armoured vehicle. As at press time no assessment had been made about the impact of the attack.

The incidents highlight the persistent volatility in Bui Division, a long-standing epicentre of the Anglophone conflict, where recurring clashes continue to deepen insecurity and disrupt daily life.

Pope Leo's $8.65: Even the Pope can find forgotten money

Pope Leo has received an unexpected financial windfall — all of $8.65.

During a recent meeting, an Illinois official presented the Pontiff with a cheque containing the balance of a forgotten PayPal account he had before becoming Pope.

The light-hearted moment quickly drew smiles and attention online. It turns out that even the Pope knows the joy of stumbling upon money you forgot existed — much like finding a few notes tucked away in an old jacket or a forgotten pocket in your clothes.

It certainly made for a memorable surprise.

A small cheque, but a priceless reaction.

Health authorities have confirmed a case of Mpox in the Buea Health District, prompting renewed calls for vigilance among residents.

In a public health alert, officials urged the population to watch for symptoms including fever, headaches, body aches, swollen lymph nodes and skin rashes. Residents experiencing any of these signs have been advised to seek immediate medical attention.

Shutdown of Kribi, Dibamba Power Plants Set to Worsen Cameroon’s Electricity Crisis

Cameroon’s electricity crisis is expected to worsen following the shutdown of the Kribi and Dibamba thermal power plants, operated by Globeleq's KPDC and DPDC, which withdrew their production capacity from the Southern Interconnected Grid on 1 June 2026.

According to the Ministry of Water and Energy, the shutdown resulted from the freezing of the group's bank accounts by tax authorities over unpaid tax obligations, compounded by financial difficulties linked to persistent debts owed by the electricity distribution concessionaire.

The loss of the two plants has significantly reduced available power generation, triggering load shedding and outages affecting about 40% of electricity users in the Littoral and West regions.

The government says consultations are underway to resolve the situation and restore the affected production capacity. The development comes at a time when Cameroon is already grappling with recurring power shortages, raising concerns that the country's electricity supply challenges could deepen in the coming weeks.

André Onana Back at Manchester United as Trabzonspor Push for New Deal

Cameroon international André Onana has returned to Manchester United following the end of his loan spell with Turkish club Trabzonspor.

The talented goalkeeper is expected to report for pre-season training as the Red Devils begin preparations for the new campaign under Michael Carrick. However, his long-term future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.

Onana enjoyed a successful spell in Turkey, producing a number of outstanding performances that helped Trabzonspor secure silverware during the season. His displays earned praise from supporters and strengthened his reputation as one of Africa's leading goalkeepers.

Trabzonspor are reportedly keen to retain the Cameroonian and are expected to enter fresh negotiations with Manchester United this month in a bid to secure another loan agreement.

While Onana has returned to England for now, sources indicate that the possibility of him staying at Manchester United is limited, with the Turkish side hopeful of bringing him back for another season.
The coming weeks could prove decisive as discussions over the goalkeeper's future gather pace.
