Roadside at Dawn
Before the sun floods Foumbot with its brittle and golden rays, milling crowd of humanity; boys, girls ,men and women gather at Ngouougou Roadside to be hired to work on the farm or at home as clearners to have a little money.
Women arewho in majority carry heavy responsibilities _children to feed, school fees to pay, families to support, bills that do not wait.Women have realized that when you are economically empowered ,men do no treat them with scorn Widows and single mothers are there to feign for themselves.
Yet every morning, they return to Ngouougou, clad in determination, holding onto dignity in the face of uncertainty like weather.
Uncertainty because many gather but only a few are selected like maidens at a festival.Reasons why some are selected every day while others go home shall be explored subsequently..
This is the quiet reality of Ngouougou,Foumbot Sub Division in West Region ,a place where work is not guaranteed _ but hope still shows up daily.
They stand in patience.
Elderly women as you see in the photos sit waiting with baited breath.
Waiting, hoping _no noise ,no complain.Watching each wealthy man or passing pick up like it might carry their chance for the day.
