Launch of 15.7 Billion FCFA Accrued Salary

Prime Minister and head of government Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute has officially launched the second phase of payments for accrued salaries owed to workers of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC), covering the period from 2018 to 2022.

This phase represents a massive financial commitment totaling 15.7 billion FCFA. The payment initiative aims to resolve long-standing labor disputes, alleviate financial distress among thousands of employees and their families, and boost morale within one of the nation’s largest agro-industrial state entities.

The 15.7 billion FCFA injection represents a critical step in fulfilling the government's obligations to the CDC workforce. The accrued salaries relate to difficult operational years marked by security challenges and disruptions that severely impacted the CDC’s activities, particularly in its plantation zones.

CDC is a vital engine of local economies, employing thousands of individuals in the agricultural sector (rubber, palm oil, banana).

The non-payment or delay of salaries over the 2018-2022 period created considerable socio-economic hardship, often leading to protests and reduced productivity.

The funds are expected to immediately stabilise the financial situations of thousands of households dependent on CDC wages, stimulating local commerce in the affected regions.
