What Legacy Are You Building or What Will You Be Remembered For?
I am called Sakwe Ophelia, 23 years old, from Mème Division. I hold a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Ophelia’s Mobile Saloon started from a humble beginning to what you now call Ophelia’s Legacy.
I started from Mobile Saloon to Ophelia’s Legacy. I know some of you will be wondering why I am not practicing in my field of studies.
Seeing myself in the beauty industry is what I have always prayed for- to be a Madam, succour others to be equipped with skills, be it hairdressing, tailoring, make-up, designing, and even employing them.
Graduating from the University of Buea, I thought of my plan B, knowing how tough our country is. I constructed a shade, leading to the owning of a store.
Instead of waiting for employment in my field of study, I decided to make use of my skill, given that I am now a graduate and can’t keep depending on my parents for everything, for the future belongs to those who prepare for it.
To my fellow ladies, never fear starting up a business no matter what. Everything about life is risk. If you all know how it started, then you don’t have to depend on anyone in this life. Even if you have a guy, have your side hustle. It get why.
Men respect every woman who has something doing, no matter how small it is. Take it upon yourself as a challenge, you who’s reading this, to see how you can start a little business for yourself. I started with 20k,what more of you?
We are now in a world where some men think all ladies in this generation are lazy and believe they can use you and dump you. But once you, as a lady, are busy at your business site and you programme yourself, that respect is always there.
Men do not want women who are liabilities; they want assets, women who can do things for themselves without sole dependency.
However, we are not doing this for a man’s validation, we are working hard for ourselves, because we deserve it.
