The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute will officially launch construction works on the 6.5km urban road network in Bamenda.
This comes a few weeks after the payment of compensation of those whose property was destroyed along the course of widening the road.
The urban road network of Bamenda has been a nightmare for almost a decade now, making circulation around the city centre difficult.

With potholes developing every now and then, denizens have complained for a long time now. The laying of the foundation stone for the road works to commence by the Prime Minister will be a welcome relief to the population of Bamenda.
The road which is part of the projects earmarked by the Presidential Plan for Reconstruction and Development (PPRD), runs from New road junction, through to Mile two Junction, Finance Junction, Ngeng Junction, Veterinary junction, Ayaba street, Metta quarters, hospital roundabout, food market, City Chemist roundabout and Sonac street.

The Prime Minister will be launching the works in the sidelines of the 7th steering committee meeting of the PPRD where he will be a special guest.
Other road networks that will come under review when the steering committee meets on Friday 4th July 2025 at the Bamenda Congress Hall;
-will include the 364 KM Bamenda ring road especially the stretch currently under construction from Kumbo to Misaje, the Matazem-Bamenda road, the Welcome to Bamenda-Ecole Des Champions road, the new road and other road projects financed by the French Debt relief Fund, the C2D.

In Education, the steering committee meeting will discuss on the construction and equipment of Catholic Nursery and Primary School Ngomgham, SATEC Alakuma Mankon, CBC School Complex Nkwen, Islamic Nursery and Primary School old town, Bamenda, GNS Kibbo, IPS Babugo, GS Bu, GS Mbacha, GS Agulli and GS Bangwe.

In addition to other water points constructed and delivered, the PPRD steering committee will focus its discussion on the solar powered water points in Ndu and Kakar.

With the slogan to "build back better," health centres, youth and women empowerment centres have been constructed in Jakiri and Santa while PHC Mankon has received medical equipment.

When the PPRD started some five years ago, during its recovery phase, thousands of farmers received donations to start back their lives destroyed by the crisis. As at now, the Weh market in Menchum Division has been reconstructed while 40 market stalls have been constructed in Baligansin. Others are ongoing in Mile 4 Nkwen while the population has hailed the construction of the bridge linking Mile 3 and Mile 4 as a saviour to the several kids who were left stranded on that stretch when it rains.

The Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute will also undertake a visit to the Proximity Stadium in Ntaafi Bamendakwe. The only modern stadium in the entire North West Region financed by the United Nations Development Programme UNDP, within part of its financial pledge the PPRD.

The visit of the Prime Minister will be his third since assuming these functions in 2019. He lastly visited the North West Region on the 6th October 2021 and his coming to Bamenda this time is very important as the region negotiates the bend to economic recovery.

The Ceremony to Inaugurate the Gas Plant, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Filling Center will be done today 9th May, 2025 in Bamenda by The Minister of Water Resources and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba.

The Gas Plant was constructed by the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilization Fund (HPSF), located in Bamendankwe- Bamenda I Municipality, North-West Region, Cameroon.

It is expected that as the Gas Plant goes operational in Bamenda, many households in the North-West Region will experience a discount in the purchase of cooking gas.

This will go a long way to boost the economy in that part of Cameroon, greatly affected by the Anglophone crisis.
