This field visit focused on the mangrove forests in the area, an essential natural barrier against coastal erosion, a biodiversity hotspot, and vital resource for lical livelihoods.โฃ
During our survey, we identified two mangrove species present at the site: White mangroves and Red mangroves. Alarmingly, we observed that these mangroves, especially the White species are gradually diminishing. The major drivers of this degradation include overexploitation for wood, logging, bridge construction and other human activities.โฃ
We engaged in meaningful conversation with some village authorities and local residents, gaining valuable insight into the current state of mangroves in Mabeta. In addition, structured questionnaires were answered by some of the village members to better understand the communityโ€™s interaction and perception of mangroves resources.โฃ
This visit marks an important step in our mission to support sustainable environmental practices and to work hand-in-hand with communities in protecting what remains of our fragile coastal ecosystems.โฃ

10/06/2025

๐ŸŒŠ June 8, 2025; World Ocean Day โ€” and at Go Green International (GGI), we celebrated the heartbeat of our blue planet. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’™

The ocean covers more than 70% of the Earthโ€™s surface, generates over half the oxygen we breathe, regulates our climate, and nourishes billions of people. Yet, how often do we stop to marvel at its wonder and reflect on just how deeply it sustains our everyday lives?

This yearโ€™s theme, "Wonder: Sustaining What Sustains Us," is more than a slogan. Itโ€™s a call to reconnect. To rediscover the awe we felt as children watching waves crash or spotting sea life for the first time, and to channel that feeling into action.

At GGI, we believe that wonder isnโ€™t passive. Itโ€™s a spark. It moves us from appreciation to responsibility. Because to truly honor the oceanโ€™s beauty, we must also stand up for its survival.
Right now, our oceans face remarkable threats โ€” from plastic pollution and oil spills to overfishing and rising sea levels. But every small action matters. Whether itโ€™s reducing single-use plastics, supporting sustainable seafood, planting mangroves, or advocating for marine conservation, we each have a role to play.

You donโ€™t have to live near the coast to make waves. Every bottle you reuse, every policy you support, every voice you raise, it ripples outward.

Let this day be a day you reconnect with the oceanโ€™s magic. Let it inspire not just admiration but a promise: to protect, restore, and sustain what so generously sustains us.
From our GGI family to yours, happy World Ocean Day, may we keep the wonder alive, not just today, but every day. ๐ŸŒŽ Every day is world ocean day.
