Success story 🦾 🚨 Tanzania has completed the Kigongo-Busisi Bridge, also known as the Magufuli Bridge. The bridge spans across Lake Victoria in Tanzania's northwestern region, specifically in the Mwanza Region. The bridge is approximately 3.2 kilometers long.
It's designed to handle up to 12,000 vehicles daily.
The bridge features a dual carriageway with emergency lanes and pedestrian walkways on both sides. Each carriageway is 7 meters wide, and the pedestrian walkways are 2.5 meters wide.
Construction began in 2019 with an estimated cost of around 700 billion Tanzanian shillings. Notably, the project was reportedly funded without taking loans, showcasing Tanzania's commitment to self-financing major infrastructure projects.
The mugufuli Bridge is indeed one of the longest bridges in Africa and a notable achievement in Tanzania's infrastructure development.
