Today 14th May, 2925, for the Umpteenth time, a group of Fulani herdsmen courageously sought justice by taking the law into their hands, albeit misguidedly, by storming the Aghem clan with sticks, matchetes, and knives, accompanied by an Hausa individual possessing a gun. This has been the norm since 2019 with a good number of Aghems losing lives, children, family members, losing houses and valuable possessions. At Zonghofuh, the visionary Headteacher of G S ZATOSANG reported that a group of enraged Muslims passionately expressed their concerns by storming ZONGEFU village and ZATOSANG Quarter, causing pupils of G S ZATOSANG to seek refuge in nearby bushes. The escaping teachers sought sanctuary at the ZONGEFU Fon's Palace, only to encounter another group of angry Muslims wielding knives, sticks, and other weapons, courageously pounding the doors and objects in the palace. They entered the Palace, causing significant damage, wounding, and butchering innocent people. What transpired? Teachers, Fons, and other officials have suffered kidnapping in Wum by unknown individuals, necessitating ransom payments. In a remarkable display of determination, the Fulanis, instead of seeking assistance from security and defense forces or conducting a search, stormed the Aghem clan in retaliation, believing the kidnappers resided in Aghem. This cycle of retaliation has persisted, and it is imperative that we seek a permanent solution to eradicate this jungle justice. Will the Menchum administration rise to the challenge, becoming more alert, proactive, and meeting expectations?
