Obtain your voters card in 3 steps

To obtain a voter registration card in Cameroon, start by identifying the subdivision where you live or would like to vote, as registration must occur in your place of residence or preferred voting area. Next, locate the nearest ELECAM (Elections Cameroon) office in your locality, where voter registration is handled. You will need to visit the ELECAM office in person and provide your national identity card, which is necessary for completing the registration process.

Once registered, ensure you know your polling unit to vote on election day.

By not registering, you give up your right to influence who represents you in your municipal Council and Parliament. We strongly support the "Ready to Seat" campaign by the Community of Democracies, which aims to empower political candidates under 30 and make elections more accessible to youth. We believe that youth participation is essential for the future of democracy, and their inclusion in the electoral process is vital for creating inclusive and resilient systems. We join CoD YouthLeads in calling on the U.N. Human Rights Council to prioritize youth political participation in their upcoming September 2024 resolution. Young voices must be heard and empowered to shape our democratic future.

As Cameroon approaches its upcoming elections, the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the political landscape is a topic of increasing importance. AI has the potential to positively impact elections by streamlining voter registration, enhancing voter engagement, and improving election security. However, there are also significant risks. In Kenya, AI bots were used to spread misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech, which could potentially happen in Cameroon as well. These AI-driven manipulations can mislead voters, amplify divisive content, and undermine the integrity of the electoral process. It is crucial for every eligible citizen to register to vote and stay informed about the impact of AI on our elections.
