Some say it is an ancient steering wheel, others believe it to be a wheel, and still others think it is a decorative object in the shape of a shield. What exactly is it? Scholars generally believe that it may represent the sun.
As a result, it has been named the "Bronze Sun-shaped Device." There are holes around its edges and in the center, leading people to speculate that it may have been hung up—possibly placed in the center of a temple or mounted on a building—to express reverence and worship of the sun.
