Amap (Gaode Map) Overseas User Guide 📍
If you are currently traveling in China or planning to visit, we recommend using Amap (Gaode Map) for your daily navigation needs. (Google Maps may not provide accurate positioning in China.)
▪️ Comprehensive coverage with detailed routing
Amap supports multiple travel modes, including driving, metro, bus, and walking, with real-time traffic updates and public transport information. For added convenience, select metro stations also indicate the locations of escalators and accessible elevators—particularly helpful for first-time visitors to China.
▪️ Set the language before opening the app if downloaded outside China
If you have downloaded Amap from an overseas app store, please do not open the app immediately after installation. Instead, follow these steps to set the language:
Go to your phone's Settings → Apps → Amap → Language → select your preferred language → then open Amap.
The language settings will then take effect.
📌 Travel Tip:
Before traveling to China, we suggest downloading and familiarizing yourself with Amap in advance. This will make it much easier when navigating to attractions, taking the metro, or walking through city neighborhoods.
