On the evening of July 24, 2025, the “Yujian Xiashi · 2025 Summer Cuisine Tasting Gala Dinner” was successfully held at Chuanshang Restaurant, The Westin Chongqing Liberation Square.

A highlight of the event was the official debut of Da Dong’s signature “Crispy yet Non-Greasy” Roast Duck in Chongqing, now featured on Chuanshang’s menu.

The dinner was structured in four thematic chapters—Summer Prelude · Pepper Aroma, Seasonal Freshness · Delicate Fragrance, Summer Rhythm · Savory Essence, and Final Harvest · Fruity Notes. Over the course of 3.5 hours, guests enjoyed 22 meticulously crafted dishes, paired with 5 fine Chinese liquors and 4 traditional teas, delivering an immersive tasting experience that celebrated the flavors and spirit of summer.

Led by Executive Chef Charlie, the Chuanshang culinary team presented an innovative and elegant interpretation of seasonal Chinese cuisine.

📚Binding Books, Stitching Stories

One afternoon, filled with the scent of paper and a quiet artistic vibe, we gathered for a one-of-a-kind artistic bookbinding workshop.

🪐Each handmade book felt like a private little universe.
With covers made from vintage maps and pages torn from weathered poetry collections, every book looked like a forgotten treasure unearthed from an old bookstall.

🧑‍🏫Our instructor, Andrea, spoke gently about the “personalities” of paper — which ones are best for writing, which for collage, and which can gracefully wear the creases of time.
He demonstrated each step with care, from selecting the paper to punching holes and stitching it all together, turning what seemed like a complex craft into something tangible and beautifully learnable.

✂️We cut from the past and stitched together the present.
Postcards, newspaper clippings, old travel journals—these so-called “scraps” were trimmed and sewn into little notebooks you could actually write in, draw in, or use to hold your stories.
Each slow, deliberate step—choosing paper, punching holes, threading the needle—felt meditative and healing.

📸The final group photo looked more like an art exhibition.
Every sheet had its own scent and texture, every book its own mood and charm.
One person collaged a whimsical forest, another sketched city scenes from daily life. Some wrote “To my future self” on the first page.
These books became “containers of inspiration,” each whispering a quiet story that didn’t want to be forgotten.

It ended with smiles and shared joy, a meaningful afternoon, and several little books full of “art on paper.”
🌿Maybe this is the kind of beauty we often forget exists in everyday life.
