Walking through Chaozhou Old Town feels like entering a living museum of Chinese aesthetics.🚶‍♀️🏛️
From ancient temples to bustling streets, the city carries the rhythm of Chaoshan culture in every detail.

📸 Pics 1–3: The rooftops of Kaiyuan Temple, adorned with Chaozhou porcelain inlay — a traditional art form known for its vibrant colors and weather resistance, often seen on temples and ancestral halls.
📸 Pic 4: Xiashui Gate, once the water gate of the city wall.
📸 Pic 5: Guangji Gate, the grand eastern gateway of Chaozhou’s ancient defenses.
📸 Pic 6-7 On Paifang Street, 23 memorial arches inscribed with historical texts line the way — a symbolic corridor that connects Chaozhou’s past with its lively present. Now a popular spot, the street is full of local shops, teahouses, and flavors of tradition.

Canton Tower designers Mark Helmel and Barbara Kuit revealed their design concept for this famous landmark in Guangzhou. 🏛️👩🏻‍🎨👨🏻‍🎨

Canton Tower's signature twisting silhouette earned it the nickname "Xiaomanyao," or "Slim Waist," a name affectionately given by locals for its resemblance to a graceful female form.

"We were studying in the beginning and found that many TV towers are very masculine and hard," said Kuit. "We wanted to create something more gentle and pleasant for the city, maybe something with a turn in it."

When asked whether the tower's shape was intentionally modeled after the human form, Kuit said its resemblance was "perhaps partly unconscious."
